Miami Heat-backed Misfits Acquires Larry Lurr

After half a month of free agency, Smash Wii U titan Larry "Larry Lurr" Holland has been announced to be joining eSports organization Misfits. He has become the organization's second Super Smash Bros. player, the first being Melee veteran Ryan "The Moon" Coker-Welch.

This acquisition comes as no surprise given the Fox specialist's stellar 2016 results portfolio. This includes 2nd place finishes at 2GGT: Abadango Saga, the 2016 Rio Olympic eGames and the recent 2GGT: ZeRo Saga. Ranked 8th on Smashboards Smash Wii U Rankings, his expertise extends to many other titles in the series; he was a top competitor in Brawl and was power ranked in Melee in his home region of Southern California.

Misfits, for the uninitiated, is a relatively new organization in the eSports landscape. Backed by NBA team Miami Heat and Hollywood.com, they currently field teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, Melee, Smash Wii U and more.

Genesis 4 on January 20 - 22 will be Larry Lurr's first international major under the Misfits banner. Should you want to see him in action before then, he will be competing at NHSmash 3 in the Netherlands tomorrow.

Author's Note: Larry Lurr's pick up came as no surprise to me as he is an amazing player. We at Smashboards wish Larry the best of luck moving forward.
