So I recently had a discussion with someone on neutral game and I wanted other people to share their view on this.

Do you think the neutral game should have an higher focus on methodical play having an emphasis on solid plays or should it have a higher focus on freestyle having an emphasis on mindgames and reads?

I personally think it doesn't matter. It's good to have a balance of both, but you can beat people if you have very great methodical play and little to no mindgames. You can also beat someone with bucket full of mindgames and less solid skill.

Mango free styles and he's the best.
But l rather use a mix of both to throw off my opponent and keep them guessing.

there is no formula for the neutral game. often the most ridiculous, seemingly asinine options work. that being said, the players best at the neutral game do both things you speak of.
