I was playing against Dojo in some friendlies this past Friday and I discovered something: you know that grab release thing that Yoshi can do on Metaknight? It works in Metaknight dittos. Hit them once or twice, then start mashing the jump button and it will force them to jump release, then run up and grab them again.

I'm not 100% sure this works yet, but I have repeated it more than once including in a tournament match this past Saturday against a dude named Dr Mario Kart. The grab release chain itself isn't that practical for damage, but you can use it to set up a KO. Grab release to shuttle loop is just one of many options. I haven't had the time to test on other characters; as soon as I can get a video of it I'll post it.

It will probably not work regularly because for a Jump Break to happen, the victim needs to tap Jump or Rotate the Control stick to do it. If he taps A or B, then he will ground break.

Jump Breaking is completely determine what the victim does, not you.

If it was, then Sonic would be able to Infinite you! No joke!

Geeeez so much wrong information :(. How come no one knows how grab releases work?!?!

Ok quick lesson for everyone:

Your opponent will always jump-break except for two conditions:

1. You are hitting them when they break out. This will force a ground break-out.

2. Their feet are touching the ground. They will always ground break here.

Jump breaking has NOTHING to do with what your opponent is doing and everything to do with what you are doing.

On that note: I have not tested how well MK's grab stuff works. Just pointing out the grab release info that no one seems to know.

The information I got about how releases work came from Bwett and Fogo and when I did it like they said it worked. I'm not just going around making things up, just telling it how I've been told and then applying it where I think it would be useful and sharing it with the community.

Jump breaking has NOTHING to do with what your opponent is doing and everything to do with what you are doing.
Actually, yes it does, to an extent. Just do these tests.

-Have MetaKnight grab the other MetaKnight and have neither do nothing. How does he break?
-Have the Grabbing MetaKnight tap Jump while the victim MetaKnight does nothing.
-Have the Grabbing MetaKnight do nothing while the Victim MetaKnight taps Jump or rotates the stick.
-Have the Grabbing MetaKnight do nothing while the Victim taps A or B.
-Grabbing MetaKnight taps Jump while the Victim taps A or B.

If it turns out the same, the Victim will only Jump Break on the ground if he Taps Jump or Rotates the Stick.

I tested this for hours. My method still held true.

Mmac, that doesn't hold true.

When I heard about the wario being infinited by Yoshi's grab release, I tried it with many characters. MK included. He will only Jump break if, as Hylian said, his feet are not touching the ground. If he is touching the ground, he will just slide a little bit, and you will get dsmashed.
