Meta Knight's up throw, while not overly strong under normal conditions, is able to act as a kill secure from a grab at higher %. What makes this throw unique is its ability to land on platforms above where Meta Knight throws, meaning Meta Knight can take advantage of the platform to artificially secure lower % kills.

These charts illustrate kill %'s on Jigglypuff, Mario, and Bowser, to illustrate extremes between the lightest and heaviest characters, as well as an average. No DI or rage was used for these tests. Generally speaking, with perfect DI used a character is capable of surviving 8-9% longer than with no DI used. To get an idea of the difference between rage and no rage, Mario will die on Final Destination at 131% with full rage versus 172% with no rage.

So what conclusions can we make from this data?

Best areas in the game to kill with up throw are Town & City's side platforms during the Town transformation, along with the middle one if it is higher up; Halberd on the main platform in either transformation; certain areas of Castle Siege are okay, Duck Hunt if you have the lead and can land on one of the higher trees; Mario Circuit at the Start Line, despite it being one of the worst picks overall. Delfino Plaza is king, knocking out mid weights like Mario on average at 130% on Platform 1 and Platform 2, going as low as 74% at the Shine Gate, East Island, and Pillars transformations.

I'm not sure whether the strength is exactly the same, but I'd like to add that the up throw's mechanics also apply to charizard and kirby.

After doing a bit of research, you might find additional enjoyment in a team or free for all match, given that Metaknight's U-Throw generates a hitbox upon landing. After looking into it, I can say that on Battlefield Omega, using upthrow on Jigglypuff to smack another Jigglypuff will KO the second Jigglypuff at 60%, and hitting a Bowser with a Bowser KO's the second Bowser at 90%. The hit generates only 7% damage, but has ludicrous knockback.

The chances of hitting are slim, as it is difficult to hit non-humanoid characters while stationary (kept missing with Jigglypuff and Bowser, but was landing very reliable hits on Shulk), but it occurred to me as possible, and powerful, while playing Classic mode. A Metaknight grabbed my Mii and used an U-Throw on me while I was at about 50%, on the map Orbital Gate and I survived. The poor, unharmed Greninja he hit in the process was KO'd instantly.

Kirby doesn't generate this hitbox, from what I've tested, and I haven't looked into Charizard. As said, it would be difficult to land, but might share a similar niche with Ganondorf's Up-Tilt.

As long as team matches and FFAs are relevant, I'd like to add that MK's (and kirby's and charizard's) up throw probably has MKcide/zardside/kirbycide (even though it already exists) potential, I'm just not sure how. It does cross the blast line, despite not incurring hoop damage.

I tested out up throw kill percents on Sheik with proper DI in training mode. I haven't done alot of stages and i ignored the platforms in town and city due to laziness.

Erm yes i do, whenever I'm near the ledge i up throw that's basic stuff. But when my opponents at really high percent it won't work, I'm strictly talking about using it as a kill throw.

Been using this tech for a while now in teams matches. It works wonders as long as your partner is wary of your throws. Even if you never hit someone with it, the danger of getting hit can keep an opposing teammate away and leads to a safe way to get damage/kill if faced in a 2v1 situation. However, in a recent tournament, a teammate Rosalina hit through U-throw and KO-ed me with her disjointed U-air. There might be more characters than can do this, so it's not a free throw on everybody.
