Meta Knight in tournament

Is Meta knight a viable character to be able to play successfully in tournaments? My two fav characters are Meta Knight and Ike and I have heard from a bunch of people that Meta Knight and Ike are not the best or some of the best to play and really get good with. I want to become extremely good with both but am hesitant if they are overshadowed by much better characters.

Forte and Gimpy do just fine with him in tournament. MK may not be the best finisher, but he's fast and puts on damage fast. You just need to exercise proper move selection and save his finishing hits until they're ready to go.

i got to top 8 in final round primarily using mk soo...
