Hey everyone, JemZ here! My brother and I are currently trying to organize a tournament in our area, and I would greatly appreciate any tips people could give me! So far, I've gotten the approval to host the tournament at our school(part of the money is going to support one of the clubs), but that's pretty much the only detail currently worked out. Any tips people could give us is appreciated!

Do you have enough TVs and setups? How long is the event? What's the venue fee? What games are being played? How will people find out? That last one is especially important; I don't care how prepared you are, you can't have a tournament without people. 8 people and only 1 CRTs is way better than 10 CRTs and 2 people. Make sure that everybody understands rules, that you know how to set up brackets, and that everybody follows good conduct.
This reminds me of when I held my first tournament. Everybody showed up an hour late, someone forgot their venue fee, there weren't enough controllers...But 10 people showed up, and we had a blast regardless. Just remember that whatever kind of tournament you envision, your attendees share and agree with that vision.

Have food. If you order pizza, do not make them wait to eat it till grand finals is over haha! That seems to be our tradition at local tournaments and people lose interest in the game just staring at the food lol
