I hope this is posted in the right place. My question is, which would be better, playing melee on the wii or the wii u? Gamecube controller is a must and the buttons have to be the same. Is this doable and is it worth doing for the HD? This is what I imagine needing to work:
Wii U
Melee ISO downloaded for the virtual console
Gamecube Controller
Gamecube Controller Adapter for Wii U

Secondary question, does Project M work for Wii U?

Are there any drawbacks besides cost?

I am not sure by what you mean putting melee's iso for the virtual console. Do you mean hacking it or if Nintendo puts it on the Wii U's shop? Also, a drawback can be that non-wii U games can lag on the Wii U (wii games for example) depending on your connection.
For your second question, Project M can work on the Wii U, you must be in the wii menu first before you put it in. If you are having trouble with getting it to work, there are guides on the Project M forum.
