who does not love melee? although SSB64 was the first game of the series that I fell in love with, and those fun times paled in comparison to Melee's game play. Melee is still hands down my favorite installment in the series and need to find a copy for one of my old game cubes i have stored away. Luckily SSB4 is out Friday and the pretty version drops around the holidays for Wii U. So all this excitement for the new game and reminiscing of Melee in particular has left me wondering..... is it possible for a group similar to the great people who created Project M to somehow develop some type of port of SSB64 and or Melee for the 3DS or maybe the new 3ds when it releases? If that is not possible or not worth the effort, could SSB4 somehow be "project M'ed" even though the game is on a cartridge? Obviously I am a bit ignorant concerning what is possible with this type of stuff. I just think it would be amazing to carry a mobile version of Melee now that it has been proven the 3DS has the capabilities to reliably run a brand new 60 fps game. If the platform can do that, why wouldnt a 3DS Melee re-release be viable? As much as I wish Nintendo will release any of the past SSB games onto the e store for download to 3ds and wii u..... it will very likely never be something Nintendo decides to do. And i sincerely pray that I am mistaken.

So how about it? Is anyone interested? or maybe some of you are already in the process of a project to develop something similar

The main problem I see with making a portable Melee is you will likely log some serious time into the game. I have previously broken controllers because of playing too much Melee. With a console, you can replace controllers, but with a handheld, you need a new system. I think re-releasing Melee for the Wii U would be amazing if they offered online and put it in the original 4:3 aspect ratio. Then it could be played on CRTs and smashers would rejoice.

CRT = old school non flatscreen tvs?

why does melee look better on an older tech tv? obviously the gamecube is a bit dated notw days but i would have assumed the HD tv would do a slight "upconvert" on game. I never knew any of this lol.

Speaking of 3ds and it being the console and not a controller..... i would love to experiment with different methods in an attempt to somehow someway splice or connect a gamecube controller or another controller that can plug into your 3ds just like a pc mouse would. How sick would that be? lol playing smash on a 3ds xl with a real gamecube controller.

Back on topic to Melee. So has Nintendo hinted at any desire or possibility to re release any of the old Smash games on the Nintendo E store? They have done decently well in recent years in regard to digital downloads of classic games as well as new releases. So I am praying that Nintendo will possibly decide to do a Melee re release a year or two after SSB4 has taken hold. All the other titles from Nintendo Sony and Microsofts previous platforms release their best sellers and critically acclaimed games from the recent past not only for sale in stores but also for sale on digital store fronts. I hope Nintendo realizes that there are still a large following behind Melee..... which just happened to be THE best selling Gamecube game of all time. The most popular video game of a generation deserves to be re released... I would buy it without hesitation

It doesn't look worse on an HDTV, bit the problem is lag. A CRT (old-school, boxy TV) is the only lagless type of TV. LCD, LED, and those types of TVs all have lag. The reason I want it in 4:3 is because otherwise, the TV would upscale, go through image processing, and all of that causes lag. However, f they completely remade it in HD so that it wouldn't go through image processing, I'd be happy with that.

melee on 3ds would be great on an xl screen, normal one would probably be too small tho. Would be great regardless.
