Melee Divisions?

Like Anther's Ladder you have tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.. Like Soccer you got League's/Divisions. why dont we have those? Or does it exist in a way?

Fighting games don't have this because everyone can compete at any event they can get to. Sets don't last too long to prevent it (Usually 10 minutes or less for FGs on average). In real sports and other esports, sets can take up to hours to complete. Leagues/Divisions might be used as a filter for getting only good or certain level players/teams competing. This is just a baseless theory. Don't take my post as fact
