Sounds like a cool project. Make a hacked rom of Smash64 to make it play like melee. Some peeps should really get together and do it. :o

Why you already have a melee which has all the characters from 64 in it.

why the **** would anyone ruin a good game like that
LMAO this is obviously a troll post and you totally fell for it. This is obviously impossible.

However I do think Melee air dodges would add a nice mixup for characters with bad recoveries who get gimped too easily.

I personally think that 64 style gameplay with added features like powershield, wall teching, forward Bs, wavedashing, fast fall during aerials etc could be pretty cool. P64 basically. I'd be down.

I'm pretty sure 64 has something like a power shield. Probably not the same mechanics as Melee but I believe if you shield something at the exact right time, it will reflect a projectile and have a slightly different animation. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I could be mistaking dreams for reality.

I'm pretty sure I've reflected fireballs and lasers with pikas shield by timing it just right. Like I said, it isn't the same as Melee but it does exhibit some of the characteristics of a power shield. Like a pseudo-power shield.

Projectiles will bounce off of shields but they will not reflect. That is, if you powershield a projectile in melee you get 'ownership' of it and it will damage your opponents. In 64 if a projectile sort of idly bounces off your shield it does not change ownership and will go straight through the player who threw it at you. Shields only seem to do that if it's at a low enough angle, like if it hits the very top or very bottom of your shield and will almost never head back anywhere near the opponent who threw it.

It's not anything like a power shield.

Good to know. I guess I was never fully aware of the shielding mechanics in either game. Looks like I'll be reading the Shields: Everything you need to know about them guide.
