How Long Have I Been Asleep?
Well, I have posted this in other places, figured I would give the mainstream a little heads up on something interesting I noted about several weeks ago. Well I went over last months Nintendo Power issuse again, just to re-read it. I reached the article they had going over Megaman's 20th Anniversary, they also had an interview with the current head and director of the Megaman series within Capcom; Takeshi Horinouchi. As I was re-reading this I came on to the last part of the interview, something I just read over and really did not notice until this time around. This is what it was:
At first I was skeptical of my idea, so I just sat on it and kept thinking about it, and thinking, and even more thinking... Until I finally started to believe that maybe what I thought was true, maybe he DID know something about good ol' Blue Bomber we did not; since he is the current director of him after all. Now this is not too say that this is 100% truth that Megaman is in Brawl, but it is a good counter-weight to the common perception that Inafune disconfirmed Megaman, which is not correct on it's own merit. So there is still the possibility for him to appear in Brawl, and this might be simething pointing towards that option.
Now some people might be confused thinking that Inafune directs or owns the Megaman series, but I want to clarify he does not.
The first time when I read this I just passed over it with no initial regard for this comment; however, this time something intrigued me as I actually read this. You see, Ryuusei no Rockman 2 (Star Force 2) currently does not have a release date, but is has credible rumours pointing towards a March/April release. So as I scanned this I realized that there is no game currently slated nor in the works to be released before March, in 2008. There was no game he could possibly be in before March, until it finally hit me like eating a bean burrito during the flu season. What if he was alluding to Brawl! Horinouchi was being very cryptic (as they ALL are) regarding something he plausibly had information on regarding Megaman. Now at first I thought he meant a game by Capcom, until I went over and over searching for rumors and leaks it could possibly be; nothing. We are already in January and in a few weeks February and there still is not anything [Mega related] coming out before SF2. So I thought, "maybe he is appearing in some game?" Than for a split second I went through my mind on what it could be. Did not take me long at all until I started smiling.NP: What's the next Megaman game on the horizon? More Star Force, ZX, or something else?
TH: This interview is coming out in January, right? [Close enough] Based on the timetable for the North American audience, I would assume the next game you get will be for the Star Force series. However, I'm sure you'd be happy if we got another game out to you before that.
