My favorite game was Mercenaries, it really was good, high replay value, great skirmish, and excellent online play. My all time favorite mech was the Masakari, from the Clan Pak.

4 ERPPC
CLRM 20
CLRM 15
Rotary 10

Online name was Mazaloth but switched to Jake-Kun. My clan was Bloodpack[BP]
BloodPack 5th Lance Commander. Which was in war with the War Pigs.

Loved this game, too bad the 5th game was cancled...

Man I love Mechwarrior, but whenever I ask my friends, all of them (except for like 3) are like wtf is that. Anyway, I loved Mercenaries. My favorite mech was probably either Gladiator or Hauptmann. (however you spell it)

ER PPC's and Heavy AC's all the way! I was an all or nothing guy, pretty much take out the legs or aim for the cockpit/main chassis. No screwing around with arms/side chassis. I didn't play online much, though I did once convince my friends to LAN it with me. When we banned assault classes, i went Black Knight. After banning heavies, I went bushwacker.

I would love to pick up this game again, though I have it saved onto my external, which I left in college.

Well, it depends on the mech you are facing with the way you target areas.
Such as if I was facing the Gladiator I would aim at the right torso and arm area, taking out laser, omni, and balistics hardpoints.

But yeah the Black knight was just a lighter gladiator.

I also had a theory of the mechs 'evolved' into other mechs such as....

Bushwacker>Couldren Born
Wolfhound>Black Knight>Gladiator
Puma>Masakari
Uziel>Sunder
Owen>LongBow

So on and so on, I related the 'evolutions' by wepon loadouts, and Chassis similarities.

I can see the Uziel and Owen, (Maybe Owen -> Vuluture/Catapult -> Longbow)

Yeah I guess it's good to know what body parts can hold a big omni rack and whatnot, and since its not reliable to hit cockpit, makes it all the more useful to take out weps. But I usually sacrificed some speed, heat sinks, and armor in select places. (Maybe like one leg, one side of torso, and try to guard that area by keeping myself on certain side of enemy) I would just invest in like Super Clan AC's (I forgot what they were called, but they were among the heaviest ballistic types in the game) I guess it also depends on the map. Personally, I like something like the factory from the gladiator-thing, but on an open map I'll drastically chance from ballistics to laser. Against computers maybe, but I didn't find much use of missile type weapons. Especially if the guy im up against had LAMS (was it that one or ECM?) pretty much it made it long as hell to lock on, and they could just run for cover/shot some down.
One thing I did like was Flamers. Clan Flamers were only .5 tons and if you got up close was super ****, especially ballistic-types with no heat sinks. *presses coolant button*
If only the flamers were 1 spot and not 2 sigh.
