Since completing my recording setup I've had some ideas of things to record with Falco that some players may not know about or may find interesting. I'd like to have them organized in one place, so I figure I'll keep updating this thread every time I upload a new video.

Invisible ceilings are fun...

Autocancel SH Bair

Double Falco Double Laser Grab

Simple Ledgecancelling Example (Battlefield)

Improving the Falco Metagame (Axe, Dr. PeePee, MattDotZeb, Westballz) - FSmash combo video

If you have any ideas or suggestions of things for me to record please post them here or PM me and I'll be happy to give them a try. :)

it just so happens that i didnt know about any of these... how are the auto cancelled bair and the ledge cancel done exactly? i feel like a fool for asking but i figure it's a really simple explanation...

also since your looking for ideas ill just throw this in the air, wavedash lengths? from shortest to longest?

Awesome, glad you were introduced to something new! By the way, you should try to find a way to Hall of Gaming 10 this weekend in Wallingford, Connecticut. It's only about 16 miles from West Haven.

The way I do the auto-cancelled bair is by tapping X and flicking the c-stick away from Falco immediately after using the base of my thumb. I have an easier time doing it to the left, but I'm teaching myself to get better at doing it to the right. In the video I was doing the right-bairs using A, not the c-stick (which is noticeable because you can see falco's standing animation slightly between bairs. Just means I wasn't jumping again quick enough - it's still possible to do them perfectly with A.)

Ledge cancels are simply doing an aerial attack and using the forward momentum from your jump to essentially slide off the platform. You can stop the sliding part by releasing forward (or backwards, whichever you're holding toward the ledge) or by reversing the direction you are holding before you fall.
You can see I do that at the end of the ledge cancel video where I ledge cancel -> turn around -> SHL -> ledge cancel -> forward-b. This works because if you start from the edge of a Battlefield platform and short hop into an aerial or a laser while holding to the opposing edge you will ledge cancel that move.

The other ledge cancels in that video are me falling off the platform, double jumping, and either double lasering or doing a bair.

On Battlefield it's very easy with Falco. To get an idea of it just try to run off one of the platforms and forward-b immediately. You will ledge cancel on the opposing platform if you do it correctly. Use that to get yourself used to moving from your ledge cancels.

Hopefully that cleared it up a little for you. If not I can make a video showing a step-by-step process.

Regarding your suggestion--
By "shortest to longest" is this for all characters, or just showing the different lengths you can adjust falco into?

I would love so much to be able to go to HOG right now, i cant tell you how many times ive opened that page, but with school and transportation, its just not in the cards just yet.

I feel like that would all be very fitting in the video description :)

That all makes sense, and is quite clear, but one thing i dont get (and is probably the most simple to understand) is how is the bair autocancelled? do you press any extra buttons besides jump and c-stick? because when i try it L cancelling it always makes the lag faster, but never non-existent...

and as for wavedashing, i meant with falco only, as ive heard that you can vary your wavedash lengths widely, but it isnt really explained anywhere as its sorta "known" info that i cant figure out or find. but yea something along those lines. anything involving wavedashing really. its easily my favorite part about the technical aspect of melee.

You don't press anything else. Simply short hop and bair. The move ends before you hit the ground if you do it correctly and falco will land in the standing position.

All you have to do to adjust your wavedash lengths is to adjust how far forward or backwards you hold the control stick while performing one. When you see someone do a perfect wavedash that just means they're holding the control stick far forward, but still down enough to hit the ground.

So you can go from a downward wavedash (no forward/backward input) to a perfect wavedash (as much forward/backward input as possible) just by adjusting the degree you hold forward/backward

Not a problem. Hopefully I'll see you at one of the next New England tournaments!

Since a ride seems to be the issue I'd recommend posting in the thread asking for a ride, or PMing someone you see lives near you asking for a ride. :D Not just for HOG, for any of them. The next Mass Madness, though not yet announced, is going to be commemorating 5 years of Mass Madnesses. A lot of people from CT will be going to that, I'm sure.
