1. Earn points for your regional Gym by saying "League Battle challenge", and winning, against other Gyms’ Trainers.
2. Month-end point leaders receive Season-end bonuses. In five months, prizes are awarded to the point-leading Gyms!

You can absolutely make big waves even if you're not on the map! If you are in a covered (colored) region, you may JOIN your Gym – there is no longer a member cap. If you are not covered, you may CREATE your Gym! See Season 1 Rules, below. If you're already familiar with League, the most important changes from before are Month-to-Month end bonuses and easier gym joining/creation. This map is to be updated at the start of each month.
Season One Rules
General
Titles and Taking Titles:
Each gym has one Leader, up to four Trainers, and any number of allied Challengers. All non-Trainer/Leader MD/VA players are Challengers. Anyone may double as an Elite 4.
Players TAKE titles from other Players by defeating the titleholder two Battles in a row. But you may not take a Gym-related title unless you are in that Gym’s region.

Challenges are key:
"I challenge you to a League Battle"
Anyone, Trainer or not, can formally challenge anyone to Battle. Challenges can be refused only if:
Anyone, Trainer or not, can formally challenge anyone to Battle. Challenges can be refused only if:
Uninvolved: You are not a gym Trainer/Leader and do not hold a League win vs. the opponent.
Leader's Privilege: You're Leader and opponent hasn’t won vs 1/2 (round down) of your Trainers.
Rule of 8: You already Battled the opponent within the last 8 days.
Overwhelmed: You already Battled three times today.
Otherwise, challenges must be either accepted or reasonably postponed. If the postponed match is not played, the match is forfeit and the opponent automatically wins.Leader's Privilege: You're Leader and opponent hasn’t won vs 1/2 (round down) of your Trainers.

Battle Rules:
Battles are Best of 3, Apex 2014 rules. Battles to take a title (Title Battle) are Best of 5. Tournament or money matches can double as a Battle if challenge and Best of X requirements are met. Tournament conversions into League Battles cannot be refused, except by the Rule of 8.
Record your Battle results afterwards at https://www.facebook.com/groups/mdvaleague/ to influence your region’s League Standing.

Crews and Doubles, for many points at once:
Gym members, including Challengers, may Battle each other in Crews or Doubles. Refusal rules do not apply - Crews/Doubles can be refused at any time. Each member of the winning Gym team receives a League win against each member of the losing Gym team, unless the losing player is protected by the 8-Day Rule. Different Gyms may team together for Crews/Doubles, and Blitz Crews (2-stock each) are acceptable.
Joining and Creating Gyms:
Challengers with three or more League wins may start their own Gym if their region is not covered by an existing gym. Gyms must have at least two Trainers, but no more than four.
If your region is covered, your Gym Leader may grant you a Trainer title if vacancies exist. Otherwise, you can join the Gym by declaring yourself as an allied Gym Challenger.
Packed Gym: A Gym that has four Trainers may recruit any number of “allied” Challengers. These Challengers add their points to their Gym (with a reduction of 60%).
If your region is covered, your Gym Leader may grant you a Trainer title if vacancies exist. Otherwise, you can join the Gym by declaring yourself as an allied Gym Challenger.
Gym Coverage:
Each Gym covers a nonspecific, amorphous region that may, in unusual circumstances, overlap with another Gym. The coverage of a region balances three factors:
Gym coverage is a hot, tricky, and important issue that will be put up for discussion if necessary.
1. Physical and political (ie. state lines) distances from Gym hometown
2. Personal ties between the Leader, Trainers, and potential members
3. Competing (or lack thereof) claims by other gyms

Gym Leader Powers:
Leaders may:
1. Name the Gym and choose its badge.
2. Grant Trainer titles if vacancies exist.
3. Replace Trainers with in-region Challengers if Trainer holds less WINs than Challenger.
Effects occur immediately unless disputed (for recruiting people close to or out-of-region). When leadership is taken by Title Battle, the defeated Leader is demoted to a Trainer. Collusion between Gyms, especially fixing/throwing Battles, is forbidden and will forfeit leadership.

Serious disputes will be handled by the community (https://www.facebook.com/groups/mdvaleague/), and ultimately decided by staff. Minor disputes over facts of a Battle will be decided in favor of maintaining status quo unless witnesses or other evidence suggests otherwise. Major rules changes will only be enacted at beginning of a month.
TLDR: Play some sets, call them League Battles, and report them on the FB group. Your region will be grateful and you can watch the League Gym map evolve each month. Have a blast!
