There will be a Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament being held to raise money for Calvary church missions efforts. All are welcome to come; this tournament is not about winning.
The tournament is being held at Calvary Evangelical Mennonite Church 115 E. Jefferson St. Washington, Illinois. Parking and the entrance will be in the back of the building. You can get there either from E. Jefferson or from Calvary Way off of N. Main St.
The day will consist of two tournaments: a singles tournament (1 vs. 1) that will start at approximately 1:00pm and a doubles tournament (2 vs. 2) will be scheduled for 4:00pm unless the singles tournament continues after that time. It will cost $10 to enter both tournaments. If you can’t find a partner to bring with you, there will most likely be someone there you can team up with for the doubles tournament. There will be a prize for each tournament.
Please bring your own controller with you. Not doing this will be at your own risk of using a less than stellar controller or not having a controller at all.
Doors will open at 12:00pm, noon. Registration for the tournaments will start then and go on until 1:00pm, where the singles tournament starts. Registration will continue on for the doubles tournament until 4:00pm.
There will be a concession stand with pizza, snacks and drinks available for purchase.
Rules:
(We will try as much as possible to follow APEX rules)
In both tournaments, each round will contain a set of three matches. The player who wins the most matches of a set will continue to the next round. For singles, each match will be a two stock match with no items or smash balls. Each match will have a six minute time limit. For doubles, each match will be a three stock match with no items or smash balls. Each match will have an eight minute time limit. Each match will have a 1.0 damage percentage. Pausing will be disabled.
If the 6 or 8 minute time limit runs out before a player has lost all two stocks, the victor will be decided by if one player has more stocks than the other, or, if they both have the same amount of stocks, if one player has less damage taken. For doubles, it will be decided on which team has more stocks at the end or which team has the less overall damage.
Players may request that their opponent change colors to accommodate colorblindness or if their color is indistinguishable from either the other team color or the stage background. The request must be made before the match starts.
Legal stages are Final Destination, Battle Field, Smashville, Battleship Halberd, Lylat Cruise, Delfino Plaza, Duck Hunt, Town & City, Castle Siege and all of the Omega Stages. Stage selection will be randomized for the first match of each set. After the first match, the player who lost the previous match will pick a stage from the list of legal stages.
Controller ports will be decided by the players. If there is a disagreement, players will either flip a coin or play rock-paper-scissors to decide who gets which controller port.
You can switch characters between matches in the same set.
For the doubles tournament, Team attack will be on.
