Platteville Smash Bros., the Smash Bros. division of the Platteville Gaming Association, will be hosting singles tournaments for Super Smash Bros. (N64), Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, as well as doubles for Super Smash Bros. Melee and triples (3v3) for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, on Saturday, May 2nd.

Facebook thread: https://www.facebook.com/events/807117149373654/

Registration must be done before the event by filling out the following form: https://www.signupforms.com/registrations/4623

Registration will close at 9:00 PM CDT on Thursday, April 30th.

There are no fees to enter the tournaments. Prizes are bragging rights and eternal glory.

There will be bracket or round robin pools for all singles games, and double elimination brackets for Melee doubles and Wii U triples. We will attempt to seed players so that no pool is far more difficult than others, as well as so that players from the same area don't play each other.

Please be at the event and ready before the tournament starts. If you arrive late to your pool(s) or bracket(s), you will be disqualified from those events.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mitchell Meerman at meermanm@uwplatt.edu.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

9:30 AM: Venue opens.
10:30 AM: Melee doubles and Wii U triples brackets begin.
12:00 PM: Singles pools begin.
2:00 PM: Doubles and triples brackets end.
6:00 PM: Pools for singles games end.
7:00 PM: Singles final brackets begin.
10:00 PM: Singles final brackets end; tournament ends.

If you are playing in both tournaments, we will attempt to keep your pools from running at the same time. However, if you are called to play in both simultaneously, PLEASE communicate with your game's tournament organizer (TO) or, if they are unavailable, another TO.

VENUE RULES:

• Please obey all event staff, including our tournament organizers as well as hall staff.
• Do not interfere with players during tournament sets, including excessive heckling and loud noises. You will be warned for the first offense and disqualified for the second. Please don't interrupt the announcers for our streams either.

GAME RULES:

All rules subject to change.

All games:
• All items individually set to off with frequency of none.
• Pausing set to be disabled if possible.
• Excessive stalling (past 300%) is banned.
• If a game times out, the winner is determined by which player has the most stocks remaining, then the least percentage. If there is a stock and percentage tie, a one-stock, three minute match will be played to break the tie.
• All sets are best of three with the exception of Winner's Finals, Loser's Finals, and Grand Finals, which will be best of five.
• After the first game, the stage will be selected, the winner will pick their character, then the loser will pick their character.
• The losing player of the previous match may choose to change their controller port after character selection.
• You have five minutes to report to your match or you WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
• Do not play friendlies during the tournament except on designated setups during designated times.
• Gentleman's Clause: If both players agree to it, they may play any stage. This clause CANNOT be used to change the length of a set or any other established rules. Breaking this rule will result in disqualification of BOTH/ALL PLAYERS. If another player asks you to break this rule, please report it to a TO immediately.
• Finals matches only: You cannot pick the last stage that you won on, unless agreed upon by both players. (Modified Dave's Stupid Rule)
• For games with timers: in the event of a timeout, the winner is determined by most stocks, then by lowest percent. If both are still even, the game is considered a tie and the Tie Rule will go into effect (see below).
• Tie Rule: In the event of a tie, the players will play a one stock match. If the game has a timer, the timer will be set to four minutes.
