—MASTER HAND—

Imagine Master Hand finally being playable, only, it could be solely played with the Wii U Gamepad. As such, the player controlling Master Hand would not necessarily fight AS Master Hand (though you could by issuing commands), but use the touchscreen to interact with the stage. Master Hand in this scenario would be less a boss and more a GM. Just as so many tabletop games are governed, you have the players (often times four) and the Game Master who regulates the stage. The player using the Wii U Gamepad could add items, platforms, obstacles, foes, and perhaps even change atmospheric and conditional effects like day/night and gravity at the tap of a finger. Even literally speaking, the Wii U Gamepad player (Player 5) would be using his or her hand to tap on and interact with their personal screen of the smash stage. Players would fight each other on the television and the Master Hand player would sit in their own world, playing tricks or favoring certain players. Definitely not tournament viable, but an addition I see very likely.

Here's a quick mockup of how it could function:

I really like this idea.

Though he did say he doesn't really think the game will use the touch screen.

I came up with the idea of Player 5 controlling Master Hand before, but not in this manner.

It'd be cool if you could play a slightly souped up Master Hand in Classic mode against 3 or 4 human players. (along with Crazy Hand)

I thought about something like this, but your description just makes it sound so much cooler. That, and the layout of Master Hand's controls looks very natural on the gamepad. Definite 5/5 and I wouldnt mind seeing this implemented at all :D.

*steals gamepad, repeatedly slides the gravity slider in both directions*

Good news great idea I would love to control the game and be able to play as master hand in this with no glitch

Bad news sakurai said he's not doing something like this he said so the gamepad is just another type of controller for the game and not like this idea and sakurai is not taking request especially character

However maybe they should put in a play as boss mode just like in the ultimate edition of marvel vs capcom 3 when you could play as galactic

I'd really use this often, along with costantly dropping Party Balls and screaming "Celebrate, Peasants!". However, there should be a limit. If anyone has played Batman: The Brave and the Bold, it had DS-Wii connectivity where a 2nd/3rd player could play as the imp Bat-Mite. you could drop heavy weights, bombs, energy pickups or health pickups, but each time you dropped one you needed to recharge. I think that could help discourage the constant spamming of Bob-Ombs and "Night Time Day Time" jokes. Also, it would be really cool if one of the options for fighters was to change their sprites (like changing Mario into 8-bit, then 16-bit, then 64-bit from the original Smash Bros, then his Melee look, then his Brawl look) and also their skin color. It would distract opponents enough to win a fight. I'd also enjoy a "fight" option where Master Hand could just fight himself, with each of the options now corresponding to a move.

Can we palm this idea off to Nintendo?
Maybe point them in the right direction?
Or will they give us the finger?
I'm biting my nails in anticipation now. Puns!
Actually OP this is a great idea and a good use of the game pad. I applaud you.

Glad you guys like the idea! It's not too late in development. Considering this isn't a run-of-the-mill character rally, but a petition for proper use of the Wii U GamePad, it just might work. Maybe Sakurai just hasn't thought of this yet—you never know!

If you have any suggestions for how this could be improved, I could revamp the demonstration image. I know what I came up with is far from the potential this idea purports.
