Mashing makes opponent's grabs whiff

Hi,

I've noticed a thing and i'd like to share it with you. I've been experiencing a phenomenon where if i mash attacks(jabs usually work, but specials work too) out of shield when an opponent is trying to grab me their grab misses even though their grab's "hit box" came out.

An example:

As Capt Falcon i am in shield and my opponent is coming up to grab me. At the moment he goes to grab i drop shield and Falcon Kick him. His grab hit box connects, but is ignored by the game and my flaming foot kicks his head in. I've looked over replays to verify that indeed the hit box for the grab did come out. What's more is that his grab hit box connected before my Falcon Kick hit box came out, yet the game still gave me the invincibility to finish my Falcon Kick and punish him.

I can also mash jabs to whiff his grabs out of shield. This even works with characters that have relatively long jab intros, like link.

Kinda weird but I thought i'd share and see if anyone else is able to reproduce this.

Not exactly sure what you mean. Is there any way you could post a video showing it?

This game doesn't have grab super armour
Grab super armor is the opposite of what i'm describing.

I'm seeing that attack animations are trumping grab hit boxes. Accomplished through mashing. IE you can mash out of shield to avoid a grab, even if the grab's hit box comes out before your attack's hit box. I'm not sure if this works for every attack.

You're literally just out-prioritizing the grab hitbox; as stated, there's no grab armor in this game.

How does priority factor into the equation when my Falcon Kick's hitbox hasn't even come out yet?

1. You're wrong and the hitbox has already come out
2. The grab missed.

Choose one.
3. The game ignored my opponent's grab because my Falcon Kick has some sort of priority over it.

This isn't an isolated occurrence. I've been able to replicate this with some consistency. Not just with Falcon Kicks, but also with jabs, other characters, whatever. Mashing > grabs?

I sugest you post a video showing this happening. It'll be much easier to see if it's actually a thing.
