so i have brawl..and in the few weeks of playin i noticed that marth's spike was much harder to perform.=(

so im just wondering if theres a different point of marths sword that spikes instead of its tip. maybe the timing is different. if someone could help me out i think itll be really useful.

The spike is definitely trickier to do now. I think the sweetspot for both the dair and fsmash is smaller in Brawl. At least it seems like it's harder to land tippers on both of those attacks. I guess all I can say is keep practicing, that's what I've been doing.

In melee as soon as you hit Dair he would smash down, now there's about a .5second delay between when you hit Dair and when he'll actually smash down. Very similar to Pit's Fair how it takes just a bit to initiate.

From what ive seen so far with Brawl Marth, Like what braky said, Marth's spike is trickier the tip hitbox seems to have been reduced in brawl than in melee. I dont think its the timing of the move, but u just have to be a little more pricise

When I first picked up Marth in melee, it took me quite a while to use his dair effectively. It is the same in Brawl: practice will make perfect.

If you look on m2k's thread, he comments that the top back part of the dair swing is the easiest place to spike with... just a little food for thought, but I agree that it does seem to be a much smaller hitbox. To the training room! orz

yeah the sweet spot is smaller, but im pretty sure the tip is still the right place to spike them, its just harder to tip now. but, if you get them with it it is more effective.
