i've read here that using the c-stick for air attacks is the best way to go. but those that do use the c-stick, do u guys still use x, y or z to jump? or do u guys just use the joystick? just curious, so i can change my playing style to one similar to ur pros out there

I use the control stick for everything, including wavedashing. (I have my reasons for doing so, it's a bit complex) as for air attacks, I think I only really use the c-stick for Dairs if I don't want to fast-fall.

I go all joystick and C-stick. Works quite well for me. I can pretty much put up a fight with everyone and play just fine jumping with control stick. Especially with Luigi's wavedashing, Fox/Falco waveshining, etc. Your fingers just have to be pretty fast.

Just try not to use the control stick to jump, it can be pretty painful IMO. The rest is up to you.

EDIT: No offense to all you guys that use the control stick for everything, just from my experience it's extremely hard to short hop and wavedash with it. Dunno how you guys manage.

What advantages does X have over using Y?
Just curious...
For me i like using x over y just because it is alot faster to roll my thumb sideways instead of having to shift it forward and back. That may just be due to the way i hold the control, but i can do much quicker aerials using x.

I use the x and a buttons. To me it is easier to short hop and aerial having my thumb move left than down from the y button (it feels more natural to me). But it really just depends on our preference; I know that pros use every combination (c-stick and x/y, a and x/y, joystick and c-stick, etc.). SO just pick what feels most comfortable for you and work it out from there.
