A little ago I wanted to try Marth, and I'm rather pleased with him (Oooh I love facing spacies  !). There's just one thing that I kind of don't understand:

1) I'm hanging on the edge
2) I drop myself a little
3) I Bair the ennemy (now comes the crucial point...)
4) I jump
5) I UpB the wrong side. My opponent is dead, but so am I.

I've got the same problem when I run off the edge and Fair a player. I always must Fb once in the right direction to get the "proper" Dolphin. As I never saw any Marth player do that, there must be something I'm doing wrong ôò.

So erm... What exactly please?

PS: I do tap the controller stick in the opposite direction before jumping. Anything wrong there?

yeah you have to actually "aim" the ub b in the direction you want to go. It doesn't automatically just face you the right way haha

yeah you have to hold the analogue stick in the desired direction. upright or up left.

Personally I don't like the auto sweetspot system. It just means that newbies can't edgeguard and more experienced players can, with airguards and edgehogs and whatever. Doesn't flatten out the learning curve at all, seems to make it steeper, really.

But I digress.

The farther you tilt the analogue stick the farther over you will go horizontally. The difference is no to dramatic though.

It just weird. I've been trying for 2 hours last day (not only practising that though) and it NEVER worked.

In fact I just had the wrong timing. What I do now is when I press the C-stick to Bair, I simultaneously tap the analog stick in the 'right' direction. Seems to work.

Thanks to all replies ._.
