marth vs camping+turtling doc

Yea, its basically a doc that just sits there and pills, rolls inside my attacks side step dsmash, no matter how predictable he is I just can't seem to beat that dsmash, this usually happens on FD any help?

oh man, that actually sounds a lot like one of the docs I used to play a lot.
The best advice I can give is just try to mix up your approach as much as possible, punish him for his sidesteps, and get away from the downsmash when you see it coming.

If he tries to roll at you, sh backwards, wait for him to finish rolling and use a fair. Try delaying your attacks when he spotdodges. Instead of doing a shdf, do a half empty sh and use a fair/dair depending on his location.

Try only using fast attacks like SHFFL'd fairs when you have a feeling he's going to spot dodge; that way you can miss but still avoid the Dsmash because your attack finished before his spot dodge did. At the least you'll be able to put up your shield at the very moment he ends the spot dodge, and hopefully he'll just dsmash into it and get punished.

As the Doc is spamming pills just advance and ftilt the pills. As you get closer he will realize that Marth is trying to apply pressure so he will either jump or try to roll behind you. If he jumps in the air just fair the crap out of him, and if he tries to roll behind you, just short hop or wavedash backwards while waiting for the moment of opportunity. I find this very useful when I am playing against my friend who also uses Doc.

you can shffl nair using the first to hit the pill and the second as your attack depending on the situation. or get close enough to apply some pressure by hitting pills even if it's with neutral a. sh fair's pretty good against sidestep dsmash since you can DI back or double jump or double fair or shffl fair.

you can always wait, it's not like he's got lasers. or play something other than FD.
