Ever gotten stuck on a platform like on PS or BF or w/e? With a marth underneath repeatedly utilting you? And you're wondering how the ****i you can get away without jumping to a higher platform(which may fail if the marth times it)?

Do what I do. Lightsheild at the edge.

It's simple, do what you would normally do to light shield edgehog( roll towards the edge, light shield back). You'll get pushed off, and land safely in a stand. The marth can't punish it at all. I'm so glad i started doing this, it's saved me so much %.

Marth can definitely stop it by using shffl Uair followed by Utilt. Also if you're forced to tech even once chances are that you won't be able to use your shield at all. If you have time to though it can be a good choice, as well as jumping away.

oh you can just sidestep the first one if they miss the timing and fall through -> nair/bair/dair.

not if you're playing against mew2king. Anyway the lightshield tactic has been in long time use now except it was more prevalent as a defensive tactic for when your opponent respawns. Jump to a platform and sit in your lightshield... makes it much harder for your opponent to take advantage of their spawn invincibility, and it gives you more options of evasion. Of course now everyone just camps the ledge so yeah....

My friend does it alot. When I respawn he goes to the furthest platform from me and lightshields near its edge. If i jump on he just jumps out of it and attacks/runs away. If i stand there he just drops his shield and continues the fight.

It really is a hassle. But its an excellent tactic.

Lightshielding on the edge of platforms is a definite no against marth. If he reacts correctly, he'll use his Nair to knock you off with the first hit and knock you back with the second.
