Hi guys. My name is Neon. This time i am bringing up something that has been in since melee. Like nobody has never talked of this i decided to make this thread. Im sure everyone has at least once seen that when Marth's sword clashes with a certain projectile, the projectile dissapears or only hits the sword without getting to Marth's body). Marth sword contains a gem in the middle of the hilt. This gem makes the Falchion Sword unbreakable. I dont know if this is the reason why Marth can parry projectiles but i just taught it would be interesting if i put it in discussion. For those of you who dont know, Marth's sword can parry projectiles. The easiest and simplest way to parry projectiles is by using Fair, Jab or Ftilt. The effect the Falchion sword has on some projectiles(Not all only a fair amount can be parried), is that when it clashes with a projectile it nullifies its hitbox. What does this mean? Well its simple my dear lad. When Marth nullifies the projectiles hitbox or clashes with the hitbox thus nullifying it, the projectile disappears from existence. It may sound to harsh but what i mean is that the attack dissipates between the clash of the sword and the incoming projectile. Well here i leave you with a list of the projectiles that can be parried.
Projectiles that disappear on contact(Jab,Fair and Ftilt all work for these):
Link's Arrows
Toon Link's Arrows
Pit's Arrows
Lucas Pk Thunder
Ness's Pk Thunder
Link's Gale Bommerang
Toon Link's Boomerang
Samus Power Beam(Fully charged or partially)
Lucario's Aura Sphere(Fully charged or partially)
Shiek's Needles(Not all can be stopped)
Mario's Fireballs
Luigi's Fireballs
Ivysaur's Razor Leaf
Zero Suit Samus Plasma Shot(Fsmash or Ftilt do the Job)
Wolf's Lasers
Pikachu's Thunder Jolt(Sometimes the electricity gets to your body if parried with the wrong timing)
Game and Watch's Eggs or Neutral B(Jab them and do a favor to slice them for G&W lol)
This next group are projectiles that can be parried but regardless keep their effect. For example, Luca's Pk fire can be parried but you will see how the fire blasts on your sword(Pretty Epic, the sword doesnt even melt). However if you parry with the wrong attack some of the attacks hotboxes may still get you. If you stop Pk fire with a Jab, the fire that blasts on the sword can reach your body if you dont move fast.
Projectiles that can be parried but keep their effect:
Lucas Pk Fire(Fair works good against it)
*Ness Pk Fire(Its hard to pull of but the safest way to avoid it is to Upsmash. Yeah thats what you heard Upsmash. Remember that Marth's Upsmash has a very disjointed hitbox. Upsmash has hitboxes on Marth's Sides. You can see this when you Upsmash someone and the tip doesnt even hit. Remember this pk fire becomes a pilar. Upsmash will stop it besides you and will not cause any harm if you get away from it)
Zelda's Dins Fire(Ftilt gives you safe spacing. When he fire explodes you will be pushed back without any harm)
Links bomb's(Ftilt works better cause the bomb will explode on the tip and the explosion wont reach your body. You can use Fair but it requires more timing and is a Dangerous option)
Toon Link's Bombs(Same as Link)
Snake's Grenades(Works with Ftilt but the explosion sometimes can get you depending from the angle)
Peach's Turnips or Vegetables(Fair o Jab work good)
Ice Climber's Icicles(Jab stop this crap on its tracks)
Samus Heat Seeking Missiles(Jab stops them and the blast doesnt get you)
Samus Direct Missiles(These have a larger explosion so Ftilt is longer and has more range thus leaving you safe from this missiles powerful explosion)
King Dedede's Waddle Dees(Just Jab these miserable guys)
Snake's Rocket Launcher(Ftilt or Fair. Jab still leaves space for the explosion)
R.O.B's Side B(You gotta have crazy timing for this crazy S***)(If you can just Jab it)
Olimar's Pikmin Throw(Jab these fools)
Now this is the list of the bad sports that have immune Projectiles.
Projectiles That Cant be parried:
Diddy Kong's Bananas(Bummer, everybody hates these things)
Kirby's Final Cutter(The Soundwave it makes when he lands)
King Dedede's Gordos(The Spiked Waddle Dees)
Peach's Scarfaced Turnip or Vegetable(Yes this is Peach strongest and cant be stopped)
Falco's Lasers
Fox's Lasers
Well this is it. If im missing something feel free to tell me and if you dont believe me, go to training and slow down the speed if you can get the timing. After that parry away whatever projectile you wish to stop. I hope this helps and gives us Marth mainers a new vision and advantage.
