Hey guys.

I have a couple hours to spend since I'm at the hotel for a business trip. I was lucky enough to have a complete setup so I was wondering about perfecting some of my fundamentals with Marth.

I'd like some of you to share some of your practice drills which you use the most. I've been mostly doing Pivot Grabs and chainthrows on spacies for a couple hours now, but since I always do that, I'd love some new ideas!

Thanks!

Well aside from that practice movement and get your wavelands and dashing all nice and crispy, this goes for every character
If you have lots of time alone practicing combos (aside from chaingrabs, chaingrab practice is good for timing) then practicing combos on cpus isnt that great in excess because it will condition you
However if you practice movement, the stage isnt different from tv to tv so you can be super crispy and tricky even if your combo game isnt on point, and eventually your combo game will catch up

TL;DR Practice movement (with all characters), keep up chaingrabs, dont practice crazy combos

Ok, there are a couple of ways to think about Marth training, or training with any character really, that I think of when going to play melee. My first idea is usually that I'll do 40 short hops, 30 l-cancels on my aerials, wavedashing from coast to coast, etc. But thanks to me just learning and playing the way I do, I usually will just end up chain grabbing, and wave landing all over the stage while I wreck CPUs. That's not always great, but personally, I don't have hardly any humans to combo, so I'm left with CPUs.

So is either way the right way? Yes. But which one it is is entirely up to you, and how your brain learns. Mine likes to fool around freely, figuring things out along the way, while others may find that being serious about their training gives them focus, and makes their play much better. Hope this helpful'

L cancel drills- (since it works with all characters downthrust link top platform battle field)
short hop fast falls- run up short hop foward air fastfall (L cancel optional)
wave dashing- game and watch stage
wave landing - Battle field
chain grabs-left platform battle field

practice with level 9 CPU or grab a buddy and try to put it all together
