Whats Marth's job in Doubles? Like i play with a Falco on teams but i'm not clear as too how i should be playing. Were both very aggressive and coordinate well. Just wondering if there's a guide u could like me too or shed some light on the matter. Were both descent and technically sound players.

I would say no just because Marth best strength is the ability to keep his opponent out. In teams, if you are spacing out someone, their team mate can easily mess that up and lead to you being comboed. I think the best way he can be used in teams is if you have a team mate who can isolate one player (not exactly like 1v1s in teams) or hit them into your tipper/grab range. It takes a lot of team synergy, but to see what I'm talking about watch The Moon and DJ Nintendo play, the moon stays marth for pretty much the whole time.

pewfat. Marth fox is really good, perfect example is pewpewu and sfat. while marth loses a lot of benefits from chaingrabs on spacies, his grab is still hella useful because fox can upsmash. team combos are insane. Marth still has good edgeguarding and gimping abilities like dtilt and dair as well as jab and fsmash. marth can still bait and fish and zone and do all of his usual tricks even with a partner to watch out for. marth doesn't even need to get kos because fox can with one of his many kill options. Marth is not bad in teams, you just have to use him right.

idk I feel like Marth is one of the only characters who can wall out two opponents at once (even tho he also pretty much dies off one stray hit in in 2vs1 scenarios) Grabs are super important in teams and Marth's movement and grab game are one of the best. His down tilt owns the ground game and if you or your team mate can get someone off stage they should be good as dead with Marth's Excellent edge guards. In mix ups counters actually not bad but use desecration on this one. There being two opponents makes it twice as likely for them to strike but the punish for over use will be twice as hard. Use it once to make them aware of this option and i guarantee they'll hesitate before committing that hard again. It's a good mind game. <-(pure speculation based on experience)

as much as I would normally advocate the use of counter, in doubles it's more useful just to shield. While you are twice as likely to get attacked, there's also 2 people to punish you for it, even if it hits. let's say you counter fox's shine and while you're doing the counter attack animation, falcon comes in and knees you. Or maybe you counter falcon's stomp, which is normally a great momentum shifter, but then fox up smashes you (or anything really, fox's punish game is crazy). Any team with puff, free rest. In doubles, counter is actually half as effective and twice as punishable. even if it does hit and especially if it doesn't. if the match splits up into 2 1v1s and you know you can't get punished, go for it, but counter in neutral is not advised

Who do you guys think would be the best character for Marth to team with. I like teaming with falco and i know puff goes good with everyone.

regardless of who you team with, you need to be hella coordinated. fox and falcon are good because they're fast and can go in and capitalize on marth's grabs. sheik marth can work; it's really campy/edgeguardy but their synergy is tight. I don't think I've seen it done, but i'd love to see marth doc just because it'd be crazy and just might work. falco is questionable in teams because he loses his laser pressure with a partner in the way and another opponent. Falco is hella nerfed in teams, I would take a fox as my partner every day over a falco.

Marth is a good teammate. Despite what people have said not only in this thread, but threads before it, and in person as well, I love having him in Doubles. Sets up for good teamplay, actually. When I first did doubles with him, I wasn't too sure he was gonna work well at all, but lo and behold, he did just fine.

Im not sure there is the "perfect team" but he works decently well with Fox and Sheik.

I'm also a Marth main paired up with a Falco. Any good synergy you've seen? Me and my friend have been trying Marth's upthrow into Falco's dair, but I feel like they could do more (maybe laser spam + fair shield?)

Well something we've learned is that if Falco shoots his laser high Marth can wave dash d-tilt and it shuts down all ground game. (which is amazing because Marth is built for anti air and Falco is super fast in the air too) This is amazing because it forces your opponents to platforms (where u really don't wanna be with Marth under you.) Marth throw to Falco shines are awesome for building present if your fast. Marth up throw to Falco dair is good but after that you let Falco do his thing and it turns more 1v 1 while u protect him. All Marths throws except up throw combo into Falco up-smash so if your having trouble getting the kill u should really practice that. We take at least a stock every game like that.

Ken and Larry Lurr at the last SSS (Apex Qualifier) were pretty good, but they could have done better. I think Marth is a good teammate to have for them edgeguards and grab setups.
