I'm trying to improve my marth. It's rather frustrating also. I want a critique of my play yet I don't have a video capture card. So I was wondering if anyone would want to play against my Marth and give me some feed back on my game.

Alright, well I won't flame you, cause I like helping n00bs out :p First off welcome to the Marth boards! You can find several topics around here to help you out.

As for critiquing, wifi is terrible for critique and it's rather hard to get a grasp on your gameplay when I'm actually playing you lol

If you could replay some of your matches in tourney and in friendlies, EXTREMELY PREFERABLE IT IS NOT WIFI, I would personally be happy to critique you. I understand your woes of lacking a capture card, but we here are a friendly, albeit sarcastic, community filled with members willing to help you out. So when you get those replays, just ask around here, there's plenty of people on these boards with recording equipment.

I would also prefer if no one posts after me with spam or just reiterating what I said, to reduce clutter. Only post if you can help this guy out.

I haven't been to any tournies I'd rather not go and save some money than go to one and end up getting *****. All I can do really is play online since there's really no one for me to play against. Maybe I shouold check for a tourney in my area though.

Trust me when I say tourneys are the best experience you can get. Getting ***** by players better than you is AMAZING exp. When I got back from COT4, getting ***** by players and learning from watching people like NEO and Pierce all weekend improved my spacing and control A LOT. Not to mention online is just...Mehhhhh experience. Not to say you can't learn from it, but real tournies are much better.

EDIT: You live in Jersey. There are TONSSSSSSSS of tournaments with amazing players around for you to attend. Look some up in the Tournament Listing forum

There are plenty of people in your area who like to give rides for cheap gas money. And yes. The first time I played against smash players a lot better than me I got ***** soooooooo hard. Brings me back :p But you really do learn.

IDK man just because someone lives in south jersey doesn't mean they live close to me. Close in south jersey is 20 minutes away.....Anyway would you be able to play later today?

Ok, don't john about not being able to go to a tourney or gathering. 20 minutes away is chump change if you're lookin for a good time. If you want to improve and you have the time, get yourself a ride. Get your butt to a tourney and play. Everytime you lose you ask everyone around you what you did wrong and you'll get your answer. You'll meet people and get to witness pro matches. Then you go home and work on applying everything you learned and saw.

But for all that to happen you need to stop making excuses not to go. Because then you're just making excuses not to get better.

I'm sorry, I don't play wifi. And also, no transportation johns mah d00. I'm 16 and don't even have a permit, and live out in the middle of butt-**** nowhere here on the island (All the way on the north shore=no one lolol) and I get to places like Philly, Jersey, the city, and of course local all the time. Contact people. Regional Zone is great.

I'm not making excuses or johns. But what ever if the only way I can get better than is by playing in a tourney then IDK i guess i'll just have to stay at my current level...How come you don't play Wi fi ?

marth's lunges are great but in the end it's all about quick thinking. don't rely too much on his range, because it's beaten by others such as lucario, pit, lucas, etc
LOLWUT
troll?

What PD said is really helpful. Getting out there and playing with other people is one of the only ways to truly get better. I understand you might not want to spend money to get ***** right away, so I suggest going through these boards and reading the stickies; they'll help you tremendously. If you can, find some friends in your area that you can smash with to help you practice more.

When you feel more comfortable, then maybe you can try to find some tourneys. I'm from the Midwest but even I know Jersey has a great smash scene =p

E: Seriously, read the stickies. Read them, know them, know Marf.

I have read them. Still doesn't seem like theirs any improvement. Does anyone play online ?

Online play typically doesn't help: playing people in real life is infinitely better experience. That said, these types of threads aren't allowed on SWF. if some one wants to contact him, just send him a PM.

And the guides and stickies really do help if you read them in depth :)
