Mario Momentum Reverse Fireball.

As Mario while you're running into a jump if you immediately press the opposite direction that your facing while starting up fireball it'll launch the fireball in the opposite direction and give you some momentum. Didn't see this posted, so I did. :^)

That's a universal mechanic called "B-reverse".
its not a 'B-Reverse'. when u B reverse, the character launches the projectile/attack in the opposite direction because the game has him facing that direction before you see it on-screen due to an input. what he's talking about, you face one direction when the projectile is supposed to come out but the game, mid-attack, turns you around and you see the character actually make the turn and the projectile comes out in that direction. it gives u a slight momentum boost. so far ive only been able to do it under slight lag. i cant do it under normal conditions. the frame window u have to input the turn is probably too small to work in real-time

It is not b reverse. B reverse gives you no momentum. The tech you are describing is called "wavebounce"

EDIT: for b reverse you press opposite direction before doing the fire ball for wave bounce you press b after fire ball input
