Mario is getting angrier in Smash

In Smash 64 and Melee he looked pretty happy (http://www.ssbwiki.com/File:Mario_SSB.png http://www.ssbwiki.com/images/6/60/Mario_SSBM.jpg) but not so much in SSBB and Smash 4 (http://www.ssbwiki.com/File:Mario_SSBB.jpg http://www.ssbwiki.com/File:Mario_SSB4.png).

Also in the SSE and Smash 4 trailers Mario looks PISSED. How come? He was not that pissed in Smash 64 or Melee, and he is not like that in most of his other games either.

*watches video* Oh dear. Mario was M-A-D. If he's gonna be stomping around spewing profanities out of his mouth like mad, I think I'll find a new main! Of course he was fighting Sonic, and when Bowser kidnapped Peach for the *infinity*th time, I was like "He's gonna snap!" He snapped even more then he was already gone. He didn't suck in Brawl, he was just so painfully AVERAGE that he was outclassed by more than half the cast.

It's because he's been getting one up'd by Luigi.

Maybe also cause he has more trouble vs Bowser when he stops sandbagging.

Seems to support @ Xeze 's theory. He smiled in 64 where Luigi was decidedly worse and Bowser wasn't a character. Not sure how he looked in melee, but if he was still better than luigi and had a favorable mu vs Bowser and still smiling, it supports the theory. In Brawl he was worse than both Bowser and Luigi on tier lists and his Bowser match-up was somewhere around 50-50; he frowns in that game. Now Luigi is even better, his mu vs Bowser is still pretty even and he still looks mad.

Seems to make sense, but I could be mistaken. But it's not like any of this is confirmed canon anyway. What do you guys think?

@ J Jerodak Mario still smiled in Melee. Also Mario's MU vs Luigi in Brawl was even I think and vs Bowser was favorable. Plus, Bowser was lower than Mario on the tier list.
In Smash 4, Mario wins vs Bowser but loses to Luigi yeah.

It's so OOC, amirite? It's a pretty large part of why SSB4 Mario bothers me so much. The guy at least cracks a smile when he clears a level in the main games or something.

It's just so strange because he's normally such a happy character, I guess every now and then, all the princess saving and goomba stomping gets on his nerves, and he uses smash to vent his frustrations lol. I guess you could argue that Mario is fighting, so he has to look serious, well, he looked normal in 64 and Melee, why did we suddenly get stone face Mario in Brawl? There should be a project M mod to give us happy Mario again.
