1. In the Japanese (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) language, they add little suffixes at the end of names...

Such as

Kuchiki - Kun
Inoue - Chan
Smurfy - Sama

Like, what do those mean?

2. I remember being told that to be a police officer ( i don't plan on being one, I'm just asking) You can't have taken illegal drugs, within 5 to 10 years of applying, but they said it excludes "testing" or something...

So does that mean that if i just tried it out, but didn't like it and never did it again, I could be a police officer?

3. In Brawl, can everyone "Boost Smash"?

4. In Melee, is the L canceling time limit, the same as the teching 20 - Frame limit?

5. I'm an artist and my friends ask me to draw them pictures alot, I've been running out of supplies and need some extra cash...

I was going to charge them 50 Cents for a black and white pic...
1$ for a coloured pic...

I don't want to overprice them, but I don't want to underprice them... So, should I raise my price? Lower? keep it the same?

I've had these questions for a while, I might not be able to think of them all right now, so yeah.... Answer if you can...

On the last question though, I wouldn't put your friends in that situation.

I felt really awkward about it at first, but I dunno, I haven't charged any of em yet...

But, I spent my money, my time, my effort, to make them the best picture I can produce... and what do I get?

I guess it sounds selfish, but that's like "building" a house, all by yourself, and then building your friend a house for free, just because they're your friend and they asked nicely (Bad analogy, I know)

Don't know about any of those other questions but I think that charging for drawings is on a bit of a fine line.

What I do, personally, is if someone wants a drawing from me we discuss prices. Usually, since I'm a digital artist, it'll be at least $5-10, and the price could either rise or fall due to style, shading, color etc. But if it's someone I know very well and i'm friends with, I just consider it giftart and let them have it for free.

And yes, I don't get many requests like that. I'm practically broke by this point, but that's the way of the "starving artist".

Concerning the drawings, just tell your friends that you're running out of supplies and don't have the money to keep getting more if you're going to draw for them. If they don't understand that or don't want to pay, just don't draw for them. It's your money and time; don't use either in a way you'd rather not. It isn't being selfish to charge them a little. If you need the money to keep drawing, then it is what it is.

i know the kun thing is like Mr kinda thing. its more of a respect thing i think

lol actually they are not bad, but but if you want to you could probably raise it a dollar or so.

they're honorifics

San - Mr. / Ms., respectful
Chan - usually used for girls and informal, though it can be used for male children too
Kun - usually used for guys, informal
Sama - very very formal, used if that person is a much higher rank than you. Also used for gods etc

Charge your friends if you're running out of supplies. You are not their personal art machine. I'm going to be making one of my friends a Paras out of sculpey(eventually, lol), and I'm making him pay for supplies. The rates you're asking for is ridiculously cheap, so if they don't want to pay that, they're *******s.

5. if you need extra cash sit outside a busy place (preferably a place where people are relaxing) and get your pad and your supplies and put up a sign that says 2 dollar anime caricatures

if I was just walking by and had nothing to do I'd definitely get one your drawings look good!

(if that doesnt work say free anime caricatures and put up a little donation basket for your school supplies)
