I noticed that there are actually people lamenting over the fact that Sm4sh doesn't have a Subspace Emissary style adventure mode. Thanks to the power of fanfiction, however (and frankly, what is Smash Bros. if not perfect crossover fanfic fodder), we can go above and beyond Sakurai's original vision. We can even have dialogue if we want!!!! :D
So there's a couple ways you could make this work:
1) Play through classic mode and then try to piece together a story out of the matches
2) Write a story and then use vs. mode to play through the matches
You can go whatever route you want with the story within reason. You can create a sequel to the Subspace Emissary, a side story in the same universe where everybody is a trophy of themselves, or start from scratch. If you wanna add pictures or upload videos of matches to youtube and display them proudly, have at it! The more immersive the better.
Just keep it PG or below...wanna keep it so everyone can enjoy it and do we really want the next 50 shades of grey to originate here?
A few ideas to help y'all get started
1) Super Smash Bros. XTREME! - A deconstruction of 90s marketing
2) Toon Link's personality being that of the CDi incarnation
3) A sequel to Kid Icarus Uprising? (I feel as though Pit and Palutena are the "stars" in this game because of Palutena's guidance)
