How does M2K do his chaingrabs?
It looks like his marth is looking in one direction and then instantly turns and grabs them out of the air.
Is he just doing a perfect pivot grab?
An example is:

the link didnt work for me, but im assuming that he is pivot grabbing. marth has great grab range, probably the best in the game. m2k is great at chain grabs and usually does do perfect pivot grabs. look for the chain grab threads, theres got to be tons by now about this stuff. there will give you a better answer.

I've found multiple guides for optimal grabs against fox but I can't find any good ones against falco.
falco guides are always janky and unthorough. A link to a thorough falco CG guide would be amazing.

i found this
TheCrimsonBlur said:
1. 32-36 for utilt->grab. 36-52 leads to more utilts or uairs. 36-44 requires single step utilt, 44-52 needs 2 steps. I don't recommend 2 step utilts because when they DI behind there isn't a good followup.

2. You can tip as low as 38-42 with single step reverse fsmash. Key mixup to keep them honest with utilt DIs. On side DIs, low 60s is ideal. But unless they DI toward the edge, there are much better combo options to keep the chain going...if they DI the fsmash, you usually won't get any follow up and they'll stay at ~80% for ages.

2 (#2). They cannot shine out if you are correctly pivot grabbing. If you do not pivot grab, they can shine out as early as 16%. All you have to do prior to 16% is stand & grab on neutral/away DI or turn around on DI behinds.

3. Start pivot grabbing at 16%.

4. Dunno

5. Well if they don't jump you can go until like 50 lol. But effectively, you should look to end your chain grab and utilt at 32-36.

6. 16%.

7. 6%.

^^^
I listed Fox numbers for all answers (except #7). Add 8% for Falco, as a rule.

At the percents too low for pivot regrab, the turnaround grab he does is just good timing he's practiced. He turns around at the earliest frame he can manage and immediately grabs.

I already found that post by crimson, and I think we can agree it's pretty janky. Especially when compared to one like this :

Is a turnaround grab different than a pivot grab? It feels like M2K's marth doesn't even have a turnaround animation. He's facing one way and immediately is facing the other way with the spacy in hand with no animation.

I think they should be considered as different techniques, since performing them is so different. However some players don't make a difference between them. Turnaround grabbing is grabbing backwards when standing still. Turnaround grab is easiest to do with tilt turn: you either hold turn while in some lag: in this case you hold back while you are still throwing. Then you input grab on frame 2 or later. You must not jc or shieldgrab however, since a jump will cancel the turnaround, and you would grab in the wrong direction.

Pivot grab is doing a dash, then dashing backward and grabbing on the 2nd frame of turn. Pivot grab has to either be frame perfect, or you have to empty pivot: Do a smash input backward while in initial dash and then have the stick released to neutral on the next frame. This way you will only smash turn, but won't dash backward afterwards.

You can dash in the opposition direction you're facing from a standing position, so what you're probably referencing is when he does a turnaround dash grab and jump cancels it. If the opponent DIs hard behind you once the % starts building, this is only way you can catch them when a dashdance jc grab or a pivot grab takes too long.
