I was trying to finish off my friend who was playing snake, snaaake, snaaaaaake, so I came at him with Luigi's down-a to knock him in the air and try to Bair him to his death.

Well he spot dodged it and I fell off the stage still stuck in my tornado. It hit me that this move could be used as a good edge guard if your opponent is coming from below the stage. As long as you are still spinning you roll right off the edge and straight down. You break out of it with plenty of time to recover so you dont have to worry about getting gimped, has anyone tried this or know if it would work???

Of course it would be situational and if you started to abuse it then you would get easily abused yourself, but it might have potential. Let me know.

I love the move myself. I tend to overuse it and forget about his other advances. When I'm not abusing his down-b I SH double Dair. It seems to always hit with good damage and it really scares whoever I'm fighting.

Hmm, interesting technique that I haven't thought of. however, what happens if you get hit and need to use the tornado to recover, can you still use it to get the height boost?

The Tornado can only be used once in the air to recover height; if you use it again you'll just keep falling.

IMO The Tornado could be used indirectly for edgeguarding well, but only if you knock the opponent pretty high, and only used to get higher. A pretty good tactic is Jump, FAir, Double Jump, FAir right after double jump and then use the Tornado to gain some hight and stick in a third move, like another FAir or something. Most likely you'll be high enough so you can just only recover with Green Missile, So don't try to Tornado when your opponent is flying downwards...I find it risky.

yea the fact that it does use up your tornado makes it risky but I never use it so low that my Up-b wont reach. The distance is usually perfect to up-b and ledge grab. It is situational at best. I still cant get his Dair to spike so I was hoping to find an alternative for an edge guard.
