Lucas vs Diddy

So yeah. Hey. Normally, I don't go around complaining about this kind of crap, I try to find a way around it myself, but after having even the level 9 CPU Diddy annoy the hell out of me, I guess it's time I try to find help.

I'm of course a Lucas main. Been maining him since launch day, and I guess I'm good with him. I'm not going to brag or even so much as say I'm decent though, since I'm sure someone would shut me up fast. I don't know if maybe it's just the online play problems, or if it's something else, but I cannot effectively beat this little *******. In fact, I can't beat him. Screw doing it effectively. I don't quite know what the problem is, really, but I just can't take him. The Lucas matchup thread doesn't have anything on it, so that's not much help. :/

If anyone can help me out, please do. Also, I don't have any videos, since I'm living in the stone age and have no way of recording them.

Diddy is fun! Neutral airs work good for setting up combos, and after you pop him up you can really juggle him by predicting his dodges and using up-tilts. Air-dodge out of his stuff. Avoid peanuts and stuff like the plague. For bananas just slowly walk up to them and pick them up, or air dodge at them while they're in the air, or land on them and press A to just grab them, and don't keep rolling into them like an idiot. If you're sure he's going to throw one use that as an opportunity to approach.

The trick is to really just fight him for every inch and widget of damage, and to use his bananas well against him or just throw them off the stage if you can as well. B Moves are great for building damage, PKT works well at taming an aggressive Diddy at a higher percents.

Edgeguarding is easy. Just keep hitting him with PK thunder until he dies, and he'll die pretty quick.

be sure you're aiming the pkt into the place where he's going to be when he releases the up b.

Also, your projectile is better. Diddy racks damage up slowly, so take advantage of the fact that you have a better defensive and aggressive game. Dodge bananas, shielding them gets you tripped.

I do that... a lot for some reason. >__> Bananas are probably the biggest part of my problem. I often get stuck in between two or slip on the same one multiple times. I was able to play against a Diddy last night on WiFi and for the first time won. Little lag, pretty decent Diddy. He had the lead at first, but I managed to knock him out of his recovery (dair'd). So an add on question here would be: Is Diddy's recovery unreliable? Or was it just dair's spike?

His air game is a lot better than yours, so don't use things like f-air approaches. D-smash will destroy Diddy unless he is very good at timing aerials. Don't roll towards banana peels, or you'll just be forced to roll again. Hit the thrown bananas with the stick to deflect them (then HE trips on them).

I like to keep my distance from Diddy. PKF spam, PKT if he's busy doing nothing.. Stay away from the naners, of course. Keep spiking.

I four stocked him the first time and almost lost to him the second.

He hardly threw bananas.

I caught a few of his peanuts and just spammed PKT when he was off the edge. :DDD

He killed himself a few times though, and ran right into a fully charged usmash.

I'd say just keep your distance, try to keep away from the bananas, sh air dodge or something to catch them. He airdodges PKT offstage sometimes, and will just die because of the lag on his recovery.

For some reason he killed himself twice when I missed fsmash.

For some reason Diddy stopped midair when I PKFed him offstage.

He jetpacked into the small curve under FD and killed himself.

It only happened once though.

He seems to air dodge nairs too; whenever I went to rack up damage offstage with nairs, he airdodged, so I got in a spike and PKT'd him under FD.
