I've been maining Lucas ever since I've be able to PKT Smash Balls to the annoyance of friends. I've played a lot of GB battles and most of the time I haven't had any issues with being able to hit my opponent but it just seems harder against characters like Ike, Metaknight, and especially Wolf who I haven't beaten ever in a match online.
Those characters just seem to have incredible recovery time on attacks allowing themselves smash and regular attacks at ease while I still can't even use an attack besides a standard A to keep up. I can zap jump and keep my distance with PKF but I just can't seem to react that fast.

Anyone has any tips and strategies for me? I'd appreciate it :bee:

Metaknight is a tough fight, probably won't be able to beat them all the time.

For Ike you should be able to spank him with Short-Hopped Wavebounced PK Fires using the controller setup called B-Stick

Wolf you should be able to absorb his laser shots.

Read some of the guides that are stickied they are a great asset.

Wolf is a relatively easy matchup for Lucas. Sounds like you're not very fast with shielding and dropping your shield into an attack. How are your combos and what is your style like?

^^^ LOL, he said combos, and was talking about brawl.

Out of curiosity, Techno, do you use Nairs of Dairs more?

Style

Well my style is a mix...i start out with zap jumps and PKF with the wavebounce as mentioned in the previous post. I do try to roll behind opponents a lot and use the advantage Lucas has with his range to hit them when they go for their smash attack. I'm normally able to roll and attack or roll/shield/attack or shield/roll/attack behind the opponent. I can't seem to do that with Wolf. I might be slow with my shielding but I dunno....it just seems like sometimes with Wolf I roll and I don't reach him enough to hit him with a smash and when I get too close his dA or Fstrike each hit without me having a chance to shield or roll away

You shouldn't roll behind your opponents too much. This will get predictable and they will punish you severely for it with down smashes or forward smashes the direction you roll. I used to do this a lot and my friend whipped the habit out of me.

well the rolling isn't an issue because after I roll you can quick DA and because of Lucas range both front and back can get hit with this attack when they roll right into you or behind you....also on top of that I don't always roll...i just prefer to use it to find enough distance to hit them with the stick or some other melee attack..

I just can't seem to get a quick attack enough against Wolf.

just to answer shibby

If your doing zap jumps during matches that sounds odd ...

Lucas' air game isn't the best.

(why would you need to be up so high? other than recoveries at some points I guess?)

I don't do that all the time either...really i use it sometimes for a surprise to lead into some immediate A attacks shortly after. I PK fire for at least for one or two blasts and then keep the battle going....although spiking with Lucas is kinda fun=)
