Legend of Zelda Monsters
This is going to be a really tricky thing to tackle, but let's try to put together a small dictionary strategy guide for the bosses and enemies in the Legend of Zelda series. For now, though, I'm only going to make OoT bosses and enemies available for updating.
Currently Discussing: Ocarina of Time
1.0 Ocarina of Time:
Note: 1 HP is equivalent to 1 slash of the Kokiri Sword or 1 shot of the Slingshot. The Master Sword deals 2 HP of damage, and the Biggoron Sword does 4 damage to HP.
Monsters:
Deku Baba:
2 HP; Range Preferred
These monsters are actually like venus flytraps in some respects, except they're evil, corrupt, maneating, and turn into Deku Sticks and Deku Nuts when the hero defeats them. How convenient. They're pretty evil.
Defeat them with your sword just by hitting them a couple of times or with other damaging weapons.
Deku Scrubs:
1 HP for Sword; Range Preferred when still rooted in nest, Close-Up preferred when it is running.
Deku Scrubs are cute little guys that like to shoot nuts/and or seeds at you from a distance. When you're too close, they will submerge themselves in their nest and hide until you back up.
Defeat them by standing afar and reflecting their seeds with your shield and hunt them down with your sword when they start running away.
STALCHILD: (Credits to Clownbot)
2 HP; Any Preferred (They are slow)
Miniature Stalfos that appear at night in Hyrule Field. It's pretty simple; they're not all too fast, or powerful, so a few good hits with your sword will take care of them. This, however, causes more Stalchildren to appear. To avoid them, try walking along the paths instead of the grassy areas, wearing the Bunny Hood (which will stop them from appearing), or playing the Sun's Song (which can be found underneath a grave in Kakariko Graveyard) to turn night into day.
Skulltula:
1 HP; Range Preferred
Ever seen a spider? Good, you're normal. Skulltulas are basically spiders, except three to four times bigger (think the size of your head), bearing the design of a skull on the back of the body. Skull-(taran)tula, get it?
Anyways, these skulltulas are pests, but they can be destroyed pretty easily. All you need is enough distance and a weapon that can reach that far. It will take one hit from a slingshot or Kokiri sword to defeat one. Beware getting close to it while climbing, though, as it will turn purple and charge you, causing you to fly off of whatever you are climbing and lose some life.
Big Skulltula:
2 HP; Close-Up Preferred; AIM FOR THE BACK
These beasties are just like the regular skulltulas, except for their extremely large size and (mostly) solid armor. Beware, they hang from the ceiling and may come down on a thread when you least expect it. Its "Skull" side is impenetrable by the Kokiri and Master Sword.
Touching it gets you hurt, so wait several seconds for the Big Skulltula to twitch and turn around, revealing its fragile backside. That's you turn to strike.
Wolfos and White Wolfos (look like wolves, obviously): (Credits to Blaziking17)
shows up in:
Deku Forest just before the big maze
Forest Temple
Ice Cavern, (white)
How to Defeat: Do not move because it moves around you, Z-target (or L-target on GC), then when it approaches to attack, step back a little until it does a half turn after its last swing, then slash its tail twice to beat it.
Octorok- octopus that shoots rocks: (Credits to Blaziking17)
shows up in:
Zora's River
Water Temple (I think)
Lake Hylia
How to Defeat: If you want to beat it cuz it's so annoying, when it shoots rocks, aim and deflect with your shield to hit, takes one hit. Otherwise, you can move on and ignore it.
Peahat- Basically a plant that flies, it's rooted at first.: (Credits to Blaziking17)
shows up in:
Hyrule Field (as a child)
How to Defeat: You must have the Boomerang to even attempt to beat it. Z-target (L-target), then use the Boomerang, takes 2 or 3 hits to defeat. Otherwise, just RUN!!!
Re-Dead: (Credits to Blaziking17)
shows up in:
Shadow Temple
Castle Town (adult)
cave where you find the Sun's Song
How to Defeat: Don't get too close, or it will scream and freeze you in place, which you may end up taking damage, play the Sun's Song to freeze it, then slash five times to beat it, or when they're frozen, just run by them!
Keese, Fire Keese, and Ice Keese- bat creatures: (Credits to Blaziking17)
shows up in:
Deku Tree
Dodongo's Cavern and Fire Temple (fire)
Ice Cavern (Ice)
how to defeat: You can hear their wings flap when they are there, if one stops flapping, it's coming towards you (may be behind you, too), takes 1 slash to defeat; if you want to pick them off (especially the fire and ice keese), use the slingshot or bow, takes 1 shot (make sure you have good aim).
Bosses:
-Young
--Queen Gohma-Parasitic Armored Arachnid:
When Link finally walks through the door after solving the "puzzle" of the Deku Scrubs, he encounters Gohma, the parasite endangering the Great Deku Tree's life. Characterized by its color-changing eye (it shifts from red to yellow), Gohma can also lay eggs that hatch very quickly unless destroyed, resulting in baby gohmas that Link has to defeat.
Strategy:
Aim for the eye. It's very handy to have blinding Deku Nuts (or preferably Slingshot ammo) with you when you fight Gohma in order to paralyze her and give yourself a couple of seconds to slash and hack at her eye. When crawling on the ceiling to lay eggs, position yourself in the right place in order to shoot at her eye and have it drop down from the ceiling for another window of opportunity at it.
Difficulty: **...
2 out of 5. This is a relatively easy and straightforward boss, and you only need to or three hacking sessions in order to defeat her.
--King Dodongo - Infernal Dinosaur:
King Dodongo is a monstrous, charred, fire-breathing reptile that roams Dodongo Cavern, the place that the Gorons used as a gathering ground for their food: rocks.. Thing is, the Gorons want it dead, along with its children infesting the caverns, and they're sending Link to do their job for them. Now, bombs in hand, Link has to defeat King Dodongo.
Strategy:
Simply put, avoid King Dodongo when he rolls around (the Hylian Shield accomplishes this nicely), and throw bombs into his mouth when he is inhaling to paralyze him. Follow up with blows to his head with your sword.
Difficulty: *....
1 out of 5. All he does is roll around and try to breathe fire to burn you. As long as you have the Hylian Shield and ample bombs, you're set.
--Barinade - Bioelectric Anemone: (Credits to Azure Flame)
Strategy: A boss where one must think quick and ALWAYS be moving. Constant Z targeting is recommended. Link must first remove Barinade from the ceiling, after that be wary of the Jellies circleing Barinade in a "sheild" manner. Keep getting lucky with the Boomerang throws and this fight isn't much of a problem.
Difficulty:**...
Move a lot, Boomerang and sword a lot.
-Adult
--Phantom Ganon - "Evil Spirit From Beyond" (Credits to Azure Flame)
Strategy: This is a two phase battle. Simply look into the pictures until the real one appears from it then fire an arrow. In phase two, its tennis, keep hitting it back until he falls then strike.
Difficulty: ***..
He can be annoying if you can't judge distant but haveing a fairy is always helpful. Just don't jump ahead of yourself in either phase and you'll do fine.
--Volvagia - Subterranean Lava Dragon: (Credits to Azure Flame)
Description: This guy is my favorite, he looks badass. But don't let looks intimidate you. Volvagia is the boss of the Fire Temple. Volvagia is a monstrous dragon and was a blight upon Hyrule, specifically Death Mountain, for many years prior to the events of the game. It flies through the air in a blaze of fire and dives unharmed through pools of molten lava. Volvagia is infamous among the Gorons for eating their kind alive.
Strategy: A simple battle of whack a mole. He pops up, you hit him with the Megaton Hammer, take to long and he'll hit you back. The best way to avoid attacks such as his Fire breath and Falling Rocks is just climb on the side of the stage.
Difficulty: *....
This guy is nothing. Just keep your Hammer ready and make a dash.
--Morpha - Giant Aquatic Ameoba : (Credits to Azure Flame)
Description: Not much is known about Morpha, but it apparently was the cause of Lake Hylia drying up, because the water rose after it was defeated. The boss' nucleus was able to manipulate the water in a pool, making it able to grab, constrict and toss enemies or lash out at Link.
Strategy:Not a complicated boss at all. The Nucleus is the key. Just stay on the outer edge of the room, ready your longshot and aim for the nucleus in the tentacles you just dodged. Strike it over and over. (Tip: If done carefully, you can pin it in the corner and defeat it in one go. Good for 3heart and uber challenges.)
Difficulty: ****.
I'm giving it 4 stars for one reason.... aiming at the nucleus is hard as all hell, you'll probably miss alot. Z targeting doesn't help much but its your best shot.
--Bongo Bongo - Phantom Shadow Beast : (Credits to Azure Flame)
Strategy: Not too complicated. Aim for the hands and ready your Lens of Truth for the eye. The Lens of truth and Arrows are your key here.
Difficulty: ***..
A simple 3 stars because the constant beating on the drums will screw your aim up as well as your movement because you can't move in the air.
--Twinrova - Sorceress Sisters : (Credits to Azure Flame)
Description: Koume and Kotake, collectively Twinrova, served as surrogate mothers for Ganondorf and are very loyal to their "son's" cause.
Strategy: Another two phase battle. Ready your Mirror sheild and absorb a blast from one and fire at the other. In the second phase absorb only ONE type of element (i.e. Only fire or only ice) for 3 strikes then blast it back. Strike with the sword.
Difficulty: ***..
Another 3 stars because getting both sisters in the right place for your aiming can be difficult.
--Ganondorf - Great King of Evil : (Credits to Azure Flame)
Description: The penultimate boss in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The lone male born every 100 years, this King wants the Triforce and to rule Hyrule. Lots more I won't go into...
Strategy:Another lovely game of tennis. Hit his energy balls back until hes stunned. Get the light arrows going and Hover your way over. If you see him charging a "meteor" looking ball. Just fire a Light arrow before he can release it.
Difficulty: **...
This guy is nothing.
--Ganon - Just Ganon...: (Credits to Azure Flame)
Description:The final boss. Same as Ganondorf... hes just a big "boar/pig" creature with painful duel swords.
Strategy: A simple game of rolling around. Without the Master sword I recommend the Biggoron Sword or the Megaton Hammer for a weapon. Just roll under his legs, Z target the tail and become trigger happy.
Difficulty: *....
Easier than Ganondorf...If your having troubles, fire a Light arrow into his face to temporarilly stun him.

Firstly, add the HP of the enemy, then whether ranged, or close-up attacks are recommended.
Then, give a description, strategy, and then a rating with a reason for your rating.
I'm sorry about the layout right now. It's an eyesore.
Anyways, please contribute to the thread! When making a submission, please post it in the formats above. ^
