So I've had this happen many times with the bthrow and I'm not quite sure why.

Every once in a while when you bthrow someone they will go at a much lower trajectory and die much earlier than normal.

Does anyone know why or how this works?

I was wondering if the opponents DI had anything to do with it.

I may be mistaken but it happens sometimes with the Bair as well.

what you said sounds like scaling....but scaling does the opposite of dying earlier. scaling means a move has less knockback, so less chances of dying...

No, normally the bthrow goes at roughly a 45 degree angle, when this happens it goes at a much lower angle so they die earlier off the side of the map

Have you ever recorded a match where this happens? Sounds like uninformed DI on the opponent's part.

I can understand noticing the same thing with bair since the second hit can sometimes change the angle at which the last hit hits the opponent.

I've got a couple of early kills with b-air / b-throw similar to how you describe it.

For those who have never seen it, the result is killing an opponent with 80% damage or so at the ledge, sending them in an almost completely horizontal angle and they fly FAST. I mean, almost Sudden Death fast.

It probably has to do with knockback multipliers (fresh moves, rage, hitting an opponent while they're charging a smash attack) and DI but the difference is far too extreme, I think.

Yes exactly. It almost looks as if they were thrown from over the edge at a much lower angle.

I figured it out. If the opponent DIs down during the throw they will go at a lower trajectory and die earlier.

Not sure how this works with other characters throws but if you can change the angle you leave a throw you should technically be able to survive longer.

Against characters with kill throws.
