If there are any audio tech wizards that could help me out with this, that would be awesome.
This is probably gonna sound super confusing, but I don't know where else to look since I can't seem to find the answer anywhere else.
It's only happened a few times with a couple of movies, but sometimes when I'm watching something, everything will sound just fine, and then outta the blue, there's a REALLY LOUD, disturbing "crackle" sound that goes through the speakers, and it's much more audible than the actual sound coming out of the movie. I usually end up frantically turning everything off or lowering the volume out of fear of breaking the equipment.
The sound itself is literally a super loud, digital sounding pop/crack, not like those loud, brief pops you get when play something loud all of a sudden. It's more like taking the horrific sound of nails on a chalkboard and multiplying it by a billion.
Has anyone else had any experience with something like this? For me, it first happened a few years ago. I was watching the Blu-ray version of Wreck-It Ralph and at some point during the race in the latter half of the movie, the sound cracked really loud. I watched it a couple of times later, with the volume much lower than what I had before and the same happened both times, just earlier in the movie. I tried watching the standard DVD version and had no problems with it, so I figured there was probably a glitch or something with the Blu-ray disc, but that doesn't seem to be the issue...
Fast forward to today, my family recently installed a 7.1 surround sound system, and I was just watching Zootopia (on Blu-ray) and, of course, everything is going just fine (full HD, surround sound, what could be better?) and then out of nowhere, there was loud crackle through ALL the speakers, nearly made me faint.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the receiver that the surround is hooked up to, because I didn't have that when it happened with Ralph, and so far, it's only happened with the Blu-ray versions of both Wreck-It Ralph and Zootopia. There hasn't been any problems with games, other movies or anything of the sort. Would it be a problem with those discs in particular or is it a problem with the Blu-ray player? Or is there something else I'm unaware of?
If it helps, my Blu-ray's model number is a BD-P1600.
I realize that's a big wall of text, but I would REALLY appreciate any answers/suggestions/input anyone would have that could solve this issue.
