I'm somewhat new to the smash community and tournament scene but I'm looking to improve. I main Sheik as of now and live in Riverside CA. I play with SDR a lot and Knivez/Smoke 2 Joints occasionally but it gets old cuz I lose a lot. Anyone out there nearby that's closer to my skill level? Or a sheik main closeby with tips?

i disagree

i think the best way to get better is having 3 types of people that you play often. someone who you can whoop on 90% of the time. someone that stays on your level for months at a time. and someone that you can look up to and take advice from

It's fun getting beat. It's the best way to get better.
someone who you can whoop on 90% of the time.
I said the best way not the only way, which is kinda what you're saying too. Maybe I should've put more thought into my post because I would've said something similar had I taken my time:ohwell:

The Greater Leon-Adam is like 30-35 minutes from riverside.

computers can substitute for "person who you **** 90%"
but it's also cool to have a little brother or something
or take an hour out to play with the worst guy at the smashfest

holys hit post monopoly
i hope that some people aren't discouraged when they just load up their pac west and see a wall of "joeplicate"
sigh it's such a chore having to read through that guys posts that are always the same
i know they do, though
=[ =[ =[

Ok, thanks guys, I'll do that. But I know what The Greater Leon means. I do have some friends who are garbage because they've never played with anyone but casual players and I feel like I get worse playing them. Oh well though.

well the whole point of having that person you can whoop on (for me it's brendan) is that you can practice new things on them, not stoop to their level

so like, if your friends just roll and spam fsmash, then you want to focus on punishing them for rolls, or baiting out fsmashes and then finding new ways to punish them

you should also be practicing your tech skill on them in a big way, because that's the next step up to doing all those fancy things in tournament

Hi alpha,

Me and SDR, and this sheik player named Chris can play with you if you want. Chris kinda sucks, so you guys should be able to play at each other's level.
