Looking for multishine help

Hello all, so I found the Falco multishine tutorial on MIOM and that was helpful for learning double/triple shines with Falco. However, that same timing doesn't work for me with Fox.

I know the basic frame data of when I need to input my shine during jumpsquat but I'd really appreciate some video/timing guides on how to double/triple/multishine with Fox.

I also assume that the timing for double/triple/multishines is the same for shinegrabs correct?

Like you input the JC grab during the same frames of jumpsquat that you would for shines

I don't have a video to link or anything but I had this problem to after switching from Falco to fox. Fox only has two frames of jumpsquat, you already know that I'm sure but even a video won't hell you too much, just practice doing it as fast as you can sliding from y to b. You'll learn if you're too fast or too slow from that. If you jump & shine off the ground you're too slow, if you jump out of the shine & don't get a second shine you went from y to b too fast. Like everything in this game you have to just practice it for yourself, hope that helps

The shine doesn't cancel your jumpsquat. Technically you're inputting it on the last frame of jumpsquat because the shine occurs the frame after you input it, but you're not cancelling anything. Shining interrupts your upwards momentum and leaves you very close to the ground, which is why it might look like you're cancelling your jumpsquat.

Shine grabs are literally just a jump-cancel grab out of a shine; the timing is the same as a normal jump-cancel grab (you can grab during your jumpsquat). Multishines are different because you have to leave the ground first. This is why Fox and Falco have different multishine timings but overlapping shine grab timings (Falco's jump-cancel grab window starts at the same time as Fox's but lasts 2 more frames because his jumpsquat is 2 frames longer).

Personally, I find the X->A->B method to be too slow for Fox, and opt to claw between Y and B instead. I don't play spacies hugely seriously though, so I can't tell you whether the first method will work fine with practice, or whether the claw method will significantly limit the potential for followups (if you wavedash with R or jump with X then you have to move your hands around the controller). I'd suggest you just play around with various methods and find whatever you're comfortable with.

Fox only has two frames of jumpsquat
Fox has 3, Falco has 5.

Any move that requires you input a jump, like waveshines or shine grabs, will require the same timing for the jump input. I can multishine with falco with just my thumb, but i claw when i multishine with fox because you have to be so fast. Like any tech skill, you just have to practice.

Thank you very much for that advice. I'll most definitely try to claw multishine

To be honest I think claw multishine is harder than one thumb because the problem is tight timing more so than speed (just because it's 1 frame tight and it's 4 frames of gap). For me the timing is easier on one thumb but I always play claw grip instead of one thumb so it makes that tech harder. I can still do double shines but for shdl I have to switch off claw to normal in order to do it. D:

To be honest, just internalize the sound (read: rhythm) of multishining and incorporate it into your being.
