Since I'm going to America soon, I'm coming up with a list of things to buy relatively cheaper over there. I wanna buy a graphics tablet, but I don't have the faintest idea where to start as far as quality vs. price goes.

Would it be unrealistic of me to expect to be able to draw say, manga characters with a graphics tablet? That's something I'd love to have. lol.

Nope that's not at all unrealistic. :] Graphic Tablets are faaab, I haven't used mine much recently, but I've used it for everything from drawing dragons and people to editing photos to doing the random graphic here and there.

What you want to get is a Wacom, they're the best in the business and the only tablet brand you should consider buying.

If you want the best of the range, go for an intuous, but if you're like me and just want it to muck around with now and again, the new Bamboo range is fine as well. I think I have Bamboo One, which is the best out of the Bamboo range.

Price-wise...I can't remember off the top of my head how much I bought my Bamboo for, but it probably would've been around 100 - 150 AUS. I bought it in Europe so that's a rough guess at the conversion. Haha.

100 - 150 sounds like an alright price to me. I've seen their prices between 50 - 200, so I guess it's a good middle range.

Basically I wanna draw stuff but I can be stuffed drawing on paper all the time lol. Besides, eveen if I did do it that way, I'd have to scan it and I'd probably want to go over it with darker lines, something a graphics tablet is probably better for.

Thanks for the advice ^_^

I own a Wacom Intuos 3, and it's a dream. I could never downgrade. I remember using my boyfriend's $100 tablet(not the Bamboo. Bamboo is probably better. They don't even sell my bf's tablet anymore)and I wanted to shoot things.

Of course, Intuos 3's are expensive. I found mine on eBay for like, $50 less than retail price.

Edit: Looks like they've made the Intuos 4 now. Looks awesome.

lol, there's an Intuos Ad at the top of the page.
Alright, I'll look at Wacom's while I'm over in America. Just 9 days away now ^_^

I can't wait to get a hold of a tablet, been wanting to draw some manga for ages.
