On a pic of the day Sakurai posted this https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAADRUqFx7WO4Dg revealing that little mac has multiple side smash with different effects for each. This could potentially change the way he plays based on how people used him because so far I have seen no one use this or heard about anyone discussing it. Especially because not only do we already know that he is faster and stronger on the ground than other characters but he also has more options on the ground than them (because of his multiple side smashs) giving him greater versatility and now (based on this info) an even stronger ground game. For example with his hook shot he could immobilize someone temporarily and then come in for a kill with his normal side smash or his one hit KO punch.

How is this a custom moveset? Sakurai said you have to tilt the circle pad diagonally up to use his uppercut or diagonally down to use his hook shot and he didn't say you have to change your moveset or that it was a custom move.

It's similar to other F-Smashes like Luigi or Falcon where aiming up or down changes the direction of the move (up moves the attack more up, and down likewise with down), except Mac has different attacks rather than the F-Smash slightly changing. It's not a custom move, and it just adds to Mac's charm as a ground player.
