Listing of Snake Tricks...

Well, this is another one of my "personal lists". Basically, I like to scribble things down before committing them to memory. Since I already wrote this stuff down, I decided that there's no harm in posting it for everyone else to use.

Enough of that... This is a list of every Snake "trick" that I currently know of. The names are NOT official. I wouldn't recommend referring to the moves by the names listed unless they're identical to the community name. (I tried to remember the official names but I really couldn't... :dizzy:)

I take credit for none of these moves (See Note). All I did here was put them in a list. The list is supposed to be ordered from least complicated to most complicated. The first few tricks should be common knowledge by now, but some people still don't know about them.

Note: The only real trick that I discovered independently is holding a grenade, then shielding or dodging right before it detonates. (Damages opponents around, but doesn't damage you.) It's a pretty obvious trick, so I'm sure that someone has already posted it! If not, then I guess I claim it...

One last thing... This is not a "tactics" list. This list tells you the tricks and how to do them, but it doesn't tell you how to apply the tricks in battle. If you want to apply these in battle, I would recommend looking around this forum or figuring something out on your own.

Mine Detonating: Any of Snake's projectiles can detonate Snake's mines (Down Smash).

C4 Planting: Stand beside an opponent and use C4 (Down + B). The C4 will stick the the opponent. This C4 can be passed to other players by running into them.

Grenade Throw Adjustment: Hold B to take a grenade out. The fuse starts immediately after the grenade is taken out! Release B to throw the grenade. Hold forward and release B to throw the grenade faster forward. Hold back and release B to toss the grenade upward.

Nikita Cancel: Use Nikita (Side + B). Press shield or grab to drop the rocket straight down.

Grenade Drop: Hold B to take a grenade out. Press shield or grab to drop the grenade on the ground. The grenade now acts like a normal item and can be picked up by anyone.

Box Edgeguarding: Snake's taunt causes him to pull a box over his head. Pressing A will make him throw the box backwards. Once thrown, the box actually has knockback. Thus, dropping the box on an opponent's head can lead to some amusing kills.

Shield/Dodge Detonating: Take a grenade out, then immediately drop it. Pick the grenade back up. Before it explodes, shield or dodge. The grenade will explode and cause damage to surrounding players, but will not damage you. This can also be done with air dodges.

Missile Slide: Dash, then immediately use Up Smash. Snake will slide, then use his missile attack while sliding.

Missile Slide (Extended): Dash, use a dash attack, then immediately cancel the dash attack with an Up Smash. Snake will slide even farther, then use his missile attack while sliding.

Infinite Recovery: Drop a C4 in the air (Down + B), then detonate it (Down + B). This allows Up + B to be used again. In other words...
Up + B -> Down + B -> Down + B -> Up + B -> Repeat

Grenade Stripping: Throw a grenade. Take another grenade out, then use shield/grab to drop it. The first grenade will fall straight down unless it is already on the floor (duh). This also forces your opponent to drop the grenade straight down.
Wow... I hope that most of this was common knowledge to you already!

I hope this list helps you in some way.

P.S. If you have any tricks to add to this list, I would really appreciate it! I actually forgot about the Infinite Recovery until a few hours after writing the list up, and that was the first Snake trick I learned! Also, please tell me if any of the instructions are unclear or incorrect. I'll fix them as soon as possible.
