I keep a list of gimmicks I use to bait players into being punished. There are a huge variety of techniques besides the ol' full-hop nair, and while I won't list even close to all of them, I'd like to name a few.
-Link's jab can out-range almost any short-hopped approach the opponent makes. This means you can bait the opponent with something like a whiffed aerial and immediately jab them out of the approach.
-A frame-perfect short-hop bair can be double-jumped one frame before landing. You can go in with another bair (high enough to have no landing lag), cross up and fair, or simply retreat.
-Up-throwing spacies at low percents does not cause knockdown, so the opponent's attempt to "tech" will likely result in a shield or a roll. If you read the DI, you can "chain grab" them up until around 20% if they don't know how to escape.
Feel free to add any gimmicks or techniques of your own. Link can't win without 'em.
