So when I bought my smash bros limited edition 3ds. I got my free copy of smash via downloading it from the shop and saving into a previously completely empty SD card.
But before I made a nintendo network ID.

If lets say I get a new 3ds. I transfer over all my stuff to it.

Will I still be able to download smash for free on that same smash limited edition? (as such I think I found an exploit to give people free copies of smash bros.)

Yes, you can redownload the game for free on the eShop after you've done the system transfer.

even though the smash limited edition no longer has my nintendo network ID and the registered games as it all transferred over?

I assume the transfer is essentially like a factory reset.

Yeah, your source system gets a factory reset once the transfer is complete.

oh it IS a factory reset.

That might convince some of my friends to get 3ds.

250-39.99=profit of what would otherwise be 0 from lacking any real incentive. Almost feel like it might be intentional.

Eh, I guess? It's up to you in the end.
Good to know the suggestion I posted helped.
