TKBreezy talked about it. I only saw about 50% of the Smash 4 stream

He said:
>TO played in pools when he should have been TOing
>Melee was forced to self moderate, streaming wasn't given to the person manning stream 2
>Nobody accounted for human error, so pools started late

Not sure if that's everything, but that sounds atrocious from what I picked up alone. Please ask him or someone who was there for better details.

From what I heard:

"It ran far too many games and was completely unorganized. There were very few setups and melee was never streamed (even though Keitaro promised VGBC it would be so they came). Keitaro was going to run Melee as a straight 144 man bracket so two non-staff players took it into their own hands to make pools. Since none of the actual staff did anything pools ended at 12 am and bracket (top 32) at 3 am. I'm sure there is even more issues but that's the gist of it."

"Yeah I was there. Everything started an hour late initially, and they had no plans to make pools until it became apparent there was too many entrants to seed. So they took 2ish hours to make those. They ran pools for everything at the same time while doubles wasn't finished. So I had to run between melee doubles, pm pools, and melee pools. It took 3 hours to complete my 6 man pm pool with m2k in it because he had to go to every event before mine. Which was the case with most people's experiences apparently

Then they took another hour to make the top 32 brackets from all the pool sheets. It was pretty bad. A lot of smash 4 people were at their first tournament and they just dropped out because of how late it was. And many parents there probably weren't impressed with how late it ran. Very bad first impression unfortunately"

"They also tried to run a 4v4 smash 4 tournament, which was a terrible idea this early into the game"

"keitaro continued to play smash4 while melee was 6+ hours late and the stream had been idling with friendlies for 4+ hours.

this is incompetence of a new level"

"yeah. melee singles doubles, pm singles doubles, smash4 singles, doubles, 4v4. some ppl were driving there at 9am. they played their first melee pools matches at 10:30 PM. bracket started at midnight"

And those are the quotes I have. Jesus.

That sounds pretty bad. I went to a tournament where things started pretty late (though not that late, thank goodness). People just said that's the way things are. Maybe that's true, but it partly convinced me not to really get into the tournament scene. I'm sorry, but a tournament does not have to be poorly run, and while some people can overlook that (and I applaud them), it can be a turnoff for many.

Yeah it was horrendous, and not to take shots at Smash 4 but they should really consider doing 2 stock instead of 3...4am is ridiculous

Brawl usually didn't have this problem though, and those games tended to last even longer sometimes. This was just bad organizing and it snowballed from there. Unfortunate, but ish happens and we all learn from it, I'd say.

LOL everyone was screaming at the hype Melee matches, meanwhile the Smash 4 matches were snore fests, and yet melee got shafted and they didn't even stream the good ones.

That wasn't why it went to 4am
I didn't word my post correctly, but regardless, Smash 4 matches are very long and boring. Even Sky's invitational matches went for way too long half of the time. The only time it's interesting to watch is when they're not picking an obviously OP character; ie those Pikachu and Ness matches were cool to watch

Yeah people still yell when someone gets edgehogged, I'll never understand that :)

At least we got to see some new stuff and not watch the 10 year old game some more. That would have sucked.

Hell even 4v4 was interesting.

Opinions aside, when someone promises something to be streamed and it doesn't come through, that's still ****ty from a character perspective, no? :secretkpop:
