Letting go of the Control Stick

I recently noticed that after wavedashes and some dash dancing I just let go of the control stick and it snaps back (is pretty loud), rather than keeping my thumb on. I feel like this is bad for the controller...any input on it? Do you guys keep your thumbs on the control stick at most times, or let it go as well?

hearing the click with certain things helps me with my precision. Gamecube controllers are pretty sturdy. I think you are doing fine
