Who is Bread?
Bread is the main protagonist from the hit game "I Am Bread", created by English company Bossa Studios. You control a conscious slice of a loaf with the goal to toast yourself with any household electronics capable of toasting yourself. You must avoid obstacles such as dirty, insects, water, soap, and all sorts of dangerous elements that would ruin your morning breakfast.
Why Bread in Smash?
Bread has insane reach: He's available on STEAM and the mobile market - the largest digital stores for games today. It got so big that it made an appearance on Sony's PlayStation 4 - the largest install base for home consoles!
It is such an icon that your great-great-great-great grandfather has heard of its name among legends and folklore at the dinner table. Before games existed!
Why another non-Nintendo character in Smash?
At this point, it no longer matters. With the additions of Cloud and Joker weakening the need for this criteria, Bread is fair game!
What could Bread do?
Being a floppy mixture of wheat and gluten, Bread can flip itself over easily. It can cling onto objects with button presses. It may also get stuck to projectiles and drag other stage elements with it - alongside the series' signature home utilities such as utensils, knives, vases, and other goodies.
For its Final Smash, Bread will go drag everyone into a giant toaster. Once prepared, opponents will fly out and be ready for breakfast.
