Let's get hypothetical...

Imagine for a moment that which characters in Brawl were starters and unlockables were different. Until we started getting the leaks, we had no idea about the unlockable characters.

Also, imagine that Sakurai had never shown us Sonic a few months back.

Do you think anybody would be disappointed with the roster if it looked like this?

If we'd have seen the characters in that order, I think we'd all be pretty pleased.

I think the majority of people wouldve been less dissapointed if Snake and Sonic wouldve been saved till last.

Sonic buffed the hell out of the first delay. The veterans should not have been unlockable everyone else should have. With the exception of like metaknight, Luigi etc.

we would be that was the big problem everything was revealed to us so we had nothing to get excited over when it was finally revealed.

Hmm... weighting everything side by side...

All I know is that I'd be complaining Ganondorf is still a clone ever since the starter roster had been revealed... I mean, I *****ed about his Melee moveset for like 2 years...

And then, there's R.O.B. in the unlockables...

I think I'd hate Snake though, cause it took me like a month to grow to like him, assuming I'd think the way I think, I'd be *****ing about Snake now...

Hmm... I think it pretty much neutralizes itself.

I'd rather just go and eat cookies than put myself in these scenarios.

R.O.B is the only thing I don't like about it but hey, they could choose not to sell the game in the US.

I wouldn't think any differently of the roster as a whole, however, that set up for unlockables. Swap out Jigglypuff and Ike though so she can be unlocked after completing classic mode on easy though.

I'd say that if a few of the best newcomers had actually been saved as surprises instead of being laid all out at the start, then yes, people would be singing a different tune by now. I firmly believe it.

Why?

Once ROB, Wolf, Lucario & the rest were leaked, that's all people could see. They were BLINDED by rage and completely forgot all the COMPLETELY AWESOME newcomers we already knew. Suddenly no one was talking about how COMPLETELY STELLAR DeDeDE, Diddy, Ike, Olimar and PT were. It's like they didn't even exist anymore.

I put it that way only because I never forgot about everything else that was going on in the game as the roster came to a close. I still remain largely pleased with how things turned out.

I woulda preferred it that way. But I don't care, as long as all these characters are in it.

I woulda went mad to see Snake and Soinc unlockable. Imagine playing it without knowing ANYTHING...

It's not like unlockable means anything in Brawl though, you know.

Play through SSE once and you have every character, pretty simple... too easy in my opinion. Character unlocking was built specifically for the casual audience, obviously.

My point is that if the surprise newcomers like Pokemon Trainer were unlockables, people wouldn't be complaining about the roster.

In fact, there isn't a single *properly* new character in the unlockables except for R.O.B. They're all veterans or clones, and we'd seen R.O.B. as an enemy already.

Also, can people please stop complaining about R.O.B.? He's not a bad character. He's a cool part of Nintendo's history, just like Mr. Game & Watch. A week after Brawl comes out in the US, you'll all have grown to love him.

I have to agree, this whole daily update (while I loved it) was a bad idea it got us so jaded as to what all was in the game, I mean if we didn't know until it came out we would be simply amazed. Plus the anouncement of Sonic made everyone belive that anything was possible not realizing that the majority of the Newcommers had alreay been anounced.

You all need to realise that it's not Sakurai giving us a bad roster, it's you guys EXPECTING the characters that you wanted most to be in it! Which is ridiculous, if you think about it...

I agree, but I'd still say the dojo was worth it
