Hello everyone!

I used to make Mods for Brawl (mostly stages) a long time ago and eventually lost my interest and moved to other things. However, thanks to the improvements made to BrawlBox I got my interest and motivation to make stages back. Since Project M is what's relevant now, I would like to focus on the competitive scene. I will attempt to revamp some of my old stages, as well as making new ones.

Here are a few I have made so far, I hope you enjoy them. And please criticize them as much as you want. That will help me make better custom stages for Project M fans.

I was fond of your stages since the first N's Castle. Good to see the new work you've been doing, LenSho!

Thank you everyone. Glad you enjoy my stuff.

I inboxed you with some critiques.
Yes, thank you. I forgot to mention. What I really need help with is Collision, camera, blast zones, etc. I used M's Battlefield as a base but I'm unsure if what I made is what people expect for Project M. I always tried to make stages in a different way, with crazy collision and such but I don't think they fit in competitive play.

Personally, I think using default PM stage's blast zones, camera and collisions is a pretty neat idea. Having options for the upcoming ASL addition to 3.6 would be great, especially if you aren't a fan of some of the default stage's aesthetics.

Sone unique stage layouts are always nice too, though. As long as it's not a walk-off stage, that is. I personally don't enjoy ~WHACKY STAGES~ like that, but everyone has their tastes I guess.

I agree with everyone else in that these are very well done. I would like to see more variations in stage layouts but the aesthetics are great.

Cave of Origins looks really beautiful and I can't wait to try it. Black and White and HeartGold and SoulSilver are some of my favourite Pokemon games so I'm probably going to play on N's Castle and Bell Tower a lot too.

Woah, that Bell Tower stage looks fantastic. What a work of art! Question: does that have to go over battlefield, or can I use a different stage slot? I like battlefiled, so I'd rather replace a useless stage like pictochat or hanenbow or something.

Thanks! You can replace any stage you want using .rel files.

In case you don't know what a .rel is, you can make one here: http://www.lakora.us/rel/

and save in your SD card in the folder pf/module

Thanks, that works! Goodbye Pictochat, hello Bell Tower. By the way, I was trying out the stage just now (which is just as cool as I thought it would be), and I think I found a small bug. When certain characters use their recovery when they are under the stage, facing the nearest ledge, they will sometimes grab the ledge but then immediately let go and start falling. I noticed this with Captain Falcon, Gannondorf, and Lucario, but it probably happens with some other characters too. Just an FYI that you might want to address at some point.

Thanks, I'll try your fixed version out soon. Out of curiosity, how did you edit it? I've been trying to teach myself how to edit stages in brawlbox, so it might be instructive to know what the problem was.

I deleted it and made it again from scratch. This time I split the floor in half, each half with a different ledge flag assigned. It used to be only one with both ledge flags. I remember I've had this problem before, but not always. It's kind of random.

Just tested it- same problem with the ledge. It's easiest to replicate with captain falcon. Could it be the same problem being discussed in this old thread about 3.5? https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBPM/comments/2ooxq3/pm_3_5_skyworld_ledge_is_it_broken/

I made a new stage. This time from Undertale. It includes an Omega version without the right platform.

I hope you enjoy it.

I don't know, it's weird and kind of random. I don't how to fix it. And sorry for taking so long to reply.

Yo that stage is pretty neat. It seems really still though, but there's not much of a solution to that considering the source. Nice work!

No problem; I've played a lot of matches in the stage since I put it in my build, and the issue hasn't come up once. You have to approach the ledge from a very specific angle to trigger it. But speaking of random problems, have you figured out what the deal is with that shading issue that happens in some of your stages? I've noticed it happens sometimes with Bell Tower. Sometimes I'll load the stage and the ladders and platforms will be darker, and sometimes they'll be totally black. I've noticed it only seems to happen if battlefield has been previously selected during the play session. No idea what the connection there could be.

The ledge release bug is an engine-related bug. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to fix it yet. :C

I don't know. That didn't happen to me when I finished it. But something similar happens when I use one of the newer versions of BrawlBox, so I started using v0.63 modset 4.2. I didn't want to, but I guess I'm gonna have to remake it, and Cave of Origin too with this version. I want to reremake all my stages to make them "legal" anyway. Not just compatible with PM.

Oh, I see. That's a shame. Also, I could use your advice. If I want to make "legal" stages, should I just reskin Battlefield, and leave collisions intact or are there any other stages I could consider?

Personally, I wouldn't reskin battlefield, since that's no fun :p (For me, anyway)

The main thing you have to keep in mind when designing a competitive stage is to avoid things that people can easily abuse in a match (e.g. walk offs, really high/campy platforms, etc.). This build has some pretty good examples of competitive custom stages. However, there are those that still enjoy casual or semi-competitive stages, so don't feel like you're restricted to just making competitive stuff. Anyway, if you ever need any help, feel free to shoot me a pm.

Man, that build really does have some great stages. Now that our town is organizing tournaments, I really wish that I could throw some of these in there as counterpicks... What's the general rule on including competitively viable, yet not official Project M stages?

Glad to hear you've figured out a workaround for the problem. BTW, if you want to make Bell Tower more "legal", you might consider lowering the large left platform by about 15% or so. There are many characters that can't quite reach it's current height without using their recovery or air dodging.

Hey, there are some neat stages in there; thanks for sharing! BTW Sandfall, I'm a huge fan of both your Kingdom Hearts stage and your Castle Siege Redux stage. They're both such quality stages that I can hardly believe they're custom content. Also, regarding the Castle Siege stage, I took the liberty of slightly modifying it for my own build. I wanted to players to have a better view of that beautiful pegasus knight statue, so I broke the center platform into two smaller platforms and moved them apart. If you agree that this change is an improvement, I'd be happy to share my work so you can put the two-platform version in your thread.

Yeah, I think I'll imitate Pokemon Stadium's platforms. And I know what you mean, sometimes a platform in the middle just blocks the view.

Well I don't think you need to go that far. The current set up with two large platforms is unique and interesting. I think you should tweak your design instead of just copying Pokemon stadium.

Looks really good man. I actually like this one better than the last stage even. I felt like something bout the purple bricks in The Ruins didn't gel right, but this look perfect. I'd love to find room to add both of these over a stage slot in my PM build.

Len-Sho, when you make animations for your stages, do you make them in another program and then import them into brawlbox? If so what program do you use? I've been trying to make some animations in brawlbox, and it's a painstaking task.

If anyone can get me a solid screenshot of each of these stages, I'll make all the Stage Select Screen assets for them!

Aw dang. Thank you for all these. I may actually go back and edit mine using these at some point, but...

Len Sho gave me a couple of screenshots on Youtube so I made the ones below using those. I went ahead and included all of the Stage Select assets that would be needed for these stages as well as versions that can be used if you're using either one as an alternative. The original screenshots are included as well. Feel free to use these Len Sho. Enjoy everyone! Let me know if there is an issue with the folder.

Nice job, these look great! If you need any SSS asset help just ask me. I just use mewtwo and air-dodge which makes him invisible and then pause and screenshot it. Just an FYI if any of you guys have a dolphin PM as well.
